Counter Strike Global Offensive – #HomeSweetHome Matches for May 20

Week 4 Results

Group Format: Each group has four teams. After each team has played a match, the winners meet; the winner of this match advances to the playoffs as bracket winner. The losers meet to determine which team is eliminated, and then the loser of the winners’ match and the winner of the elimination match meet in the decider match for second place in the group. The top two from each group advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket. The winning team from the playoff bracket collects $30,000, and the runner-up collects $10,000. The plus/minus refers to the differential in points won in the opener as well as games won in the next round.

Opening Matches

Team Secret (1.495) vs Apeks (2.355) (4:50 am CT)

Team Secret and Apeks have never met before their upcoming match. In Home Sweet Home Cup 4, Team Secret made it all the way to the finals, losing 2-0 to Complexity Gaming. They also took place in BLAST Rising 2020, beating sAw but losing to AVEZ.

Apeks lost their three matches on  May 13 in BLAST Rising 2020 play, falling to FATE (Bulgaria) and Japaleno in routs and going to extra points with Movistar Riders before falling, 19-17. In Home Sweet Home Cup 3, Apeks beat Virtus.pro and AVEZ to get to the quarterfinals but was shut out by BIG, 2-0. Given Team Secret’s better performance recently, they are the smart pick.

Final Prediction: Team Secret wins

Team Spirit (1.278) vs AVEZ (3.446) (6:20 am CT)

Team Spirit and AVEZ are also meeting for the first time on Wednesday. Team Spirit has been on a roll with ESL One: Road to Rio, winning five straight matches. AVEZ was dumped right out of Home Sweet Home Cup 4, losing to Copenhagen Flames and Gambit Youngsters in group play. Then they took a 2-0 beating from EndPoint in BLAST Rising 2020. So despite the fact that AVEZ offers a lot more value, sometimes there’s a reason why a team is an underdog.

Final Prediction: Team Spirit wins
