League of Legends is a highly popular video game that has spawned an international network of professional eSports leagues. The European version is the 2020 League of Legends European Championship (LEC). The professional competition in Europe is in its eighth year (in its second as the LEC). Currently, the league is in the fourth week of the Summer 2020 season, in which ten teams will compete in a double round robin format, and the top six teams will advance to the playoffs. If you plan on including League of Legends Odds in your weekend sports betting, take a look at our thoughts on Friday’s matches.

Matches for July 3
Team Vitality vs Excel Esports (12:00 pm ET)
Team Vitality has won three of the five matchups with Excel Esports all time. However, Excel Esports won the last two, both in the LEC Spring 2020 Group Stage. Team Vitality has dropped three of their last four in LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage play, though, falling to Rogue, MAD Lions and Misfits Gaming, before coming back to beat SK Gaming in their last match. Excel Esports started LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage play with four losses but have won two of their last three, beating SK Gaming and FC Schalke 04 before losing to Misfits Gaming in their last match. Given the combination of history in the rivalry and recent form, I like Excel Esports here.
- Final Prediction: Excel Esports wins
MAD Lions vs FC Schalke 04 (1:00 pm ET)
These two teams have met twice before, with MAD Lions winning both times in LEC Spring 2020 Group Stage play. MAD Lions has a five-match unbeaten streak and has just one in loss in the entire LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage. FC Schalke 04, much like their counterpart in the German Bundesliga (pro soccer) has struggled mightily this season, failing to win any matches as of yet. The clear pick is MAD Lions, although you’re not likely to find a line with much value given the disparity between the teams.
- Final Prediction: MAD Lions wins
Fnatic vs SK Gaming (2:00 pm ET)
Fnatic and SK Gaming will meet for the ninth time overall when they play Saturday. In the first eight matches, SK Gaming has won twice while Fnatic has won six times, and Fnatic has won the last five meetings in a row. Fnatic currently has a four-match losing streak; the last time they won in LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage play was on June 14, against Excel Esports. Since then, they have lost to MAD Lions, Origen, Rogue and G2 Esports. SK Gaming has split their last four matches, alternating wins over Misfits and G2 Esports with losses to Excel Esports and Team Vitality. Given Fnatic’s recent struggles, I’m taking SK Gaming here.
- Final Prediction: SK Gaming wins
Rogue vs Origen (3:00 pm ET)
Origen and Rogue will square off for the eighth time overall. Origen has won five times, while Rogue has prevailed twice. Origen has won the last three meetings, while Rogue last won in August 2019, in LEC Summer 2019 Group Stage play. Rogue has won three of their last four matches, beating FC Schalke 04, Team Vitality and Fnatic while falling to G2 Esports. Origen has won three of their last five matches, beating Excel Esports, Fnatic and FC Schalke 04 while losing to Misfits and MAD Lions. I’m going with recent rivalry history here and picking Origen.
- Final Prediction: Origen wins
Misfits Gaming vs G2 Esports (4:00 pm ET)
These two teams know each other well, as they have played 15 times in the past. Misfits Gaming has won five, while G2 Esports has won ten. However, G2 Esports has won three of the last four, including the most recent matchup in LEC Spring 2020 Group Stage play. G2 Esports has also won three of its last four matches overall, beating FC Schalke 04, Rogue and Fnatic while losing to SK Gaming. Misfits Gaming has won four of its last five matches, beating Origen, FC Schalke 04, Team Vitality and Excel Esports, while losing to SK Gaming. Given their similar records and recent form, I’m going with G2 Esports because of their recent momentum in the rivalry.
- Final Prediction: G2 Esports wins
