eSports has become the focus of the sports betting world, and one of the most widely competitive video game leagues is the League of Legends Pro League (LPL), currently in its ninth year in China. We are in Group Stage (Week 5-7) of the Spring 2020 league, and 17 teams are squaring off in a ten-week season. The top eight teams will advance to the playoff tournament. Let’s take a look at the Wednesday matches in Week 7 and League of Legends Odds.

  16. LNG Esports 4-10
  17. Victory Five 0-14

EDward Gaming (1.36) vs OMG (2.92) (2:00 am ET)

EDward Gaming is just 1 ½ games ahead of OMG in the LPL standings, but they are slated as significant favorites in the current LoL odds. Some of this has to do with the fact that EDward Gaming has won six of the seven meetings all-time between the two sides. Also, EDward Gaming has a better track record in recent matches, winning three of five and seven of ten. OMG has won just two of five and three in their last ten.

OMG won the first meeting with EDward Gaming, back on March 16, 2017, but EDward Gaming has won all six of the meetings since then. In fact, the last four meetings have been 2-0 sweeps for EDward Gaming, including a sweep in Group Stage play in LPL Summer 2019. EDward Gaming lost on April 12 to FunPlus Phoenix, but falling to the third-place team in the standings, particularly in 2-1 fashion, is nothing to be ashamed of. Before that, EDward Gaming swept LNG Esports in their prior Group Stage match.

OMG last won on April 8, beating Suning Gaming, 2-0, in Group Stage play. However, they have not won even a single game since then, getting swept by LGD Gaming and eStar in their last two matches. eStar is one of the top teams, but LGD Gaming is not a team that OMG can lose to if they want to make the playoffs.

League of Legends Final Prediction: EDward Gaming wins, 2-0.

Dominus Esports (4.38) vs Royal Never Give Up (1.215) (5:00 am ET)

Royal Never Give Up is a heavy favorite over Dominus Esports in their Week 7 match. The teams have met once previously, with Royal Never Give Up taking the win. Dominus Esports has struggled to find consistency, taking just one win in their last five matches and four in their last ten. Royal Never Give Up has established themselves as a contender, winning four of five and seven of their last ten.

The teams met in Group Stage play in LPL Summer 2019, with Royal Never Give Up eking out a 2-1 match win. Dominus Esports does have a two-match winning streak coming in, with victories over Victory Five and Suning Gaming. However, Victory Five has an 0-14 record this season, and Suning Gaming is not a contender either.

Royal Never Give Up had lost three in a row, falling to Invictus Gaming, LGD Gaming and Rogue Warriors in succession, but on April 13, they turned the tables, beating LNG Esports, 2-0. The heavy odds in Royal Never Give Up’s favor don’t make a whole lot of sense given the recent winning streak for Dominus Esports. However, the sweep that Royal Never Give Up should mean that they solved some of their issues from the losing streak.

League of Legends Prediction: Royal Never Give Up wins, 2-1.

Invictus (1.25) vs Team WE (3.64) (7:00 am ET)

The top team in the LPL standings meets the ninth-place side when Invictus faces Team WE, and the odds show that disparity. The teams have met three times, with Invictus winning just once. Despite their different places in the standings, their recent form is similar, as Invictus has won three of five and six of ten; Team WE has won two of five and six of ten.

Invictus comes in after a 2-1 match win over Bilibili Gaming in their last match. They lost on April 9, falling 2-0 to JD Gaming, currently in fourth in the standings. Team WE lost to eStar, currently in second in the standings, but they picked up a 2-1 win over Top eSports two matches ago.

League of Legends Prediction: Invictus wins, 2-1.
