Overwatch is one of the multiplayer team-based first-person shooter video games that has become part of the professional e-sports leagues. Teams of six square off, with the goal of attacking each other or accomplishing a particular objective. Each player chooses one of the 30 available heroes to serve as an avatar. Some heroes serve as Damage characters (primary attackers), Support (bringing healing and other bonuses to the Damage characters) and Tank characters (using high health totals to protect other teammates). Quarterfinals
O2 Blast (-325) vs Lucky Future (+225) (2:00 am ET)
The only week in which these two teams had materially different results was in Week 2, when O2 Blast won the top prize. However, in Week 4, Lucky Future finished in fourth while O2 Blast finished in third, so they are closer than the odds indicate. However, they are not close enough for you to pick the upset.
- Overwatch Contenders Final Prediction: O2 Blast wins
BATTLICA (+120) vs Element Mystic (-170) (4:00 am ET)
BATTLICA may have put lightning in a bottle to win Week 3, but Element Mystic has had the slightly more consistent performance week over week. BATTLICA came back to earth last week but still earned the same number of points as Element Mystic. Given the slight edge in value, I’m going with BATTLICA again.
- Overwatch Contenders Final Prediction: BATTLICA wins
World Game Star Phoenix (-200) vs Gen.G Esports (+150) (6:00 am ET)
World Game Star Phoenix comes in as the defending champions from Week 4, and they are riding high. Despite that lack of value, Gen.G Esports has not done anything week to week to make me think that they can pull off this upset.
- Overwatch Contenders Final Prediction: World Game Star Phoenix wins
T1 (-135) vs RunAway (+100) (8:00 am ET)
T1 won Week 1 outright but has looked worse than RunAway in the three weeks since that victory. Can T1 find that winning gear again? Give me that added value and the track record of RunAway.
- Overwatch Contenders Final Prediction: RunAway wins
