Overwatch is one of the multiplayer team-based first-person shooter video games that has become part of the professional e-sports leagues. Teams of six square off, with the goal of attacking each other or accomplishing a particular objective. Each player chooses one of the 30 available heroes to serve as an avatar. Some heroes serve as Damage characters (primary attackers), Support (bringing healing and other bonuses to the Damage characters) and Tank characters (using high health totals to protect other teammates). Semifinals
O2 Blast (-245) vs BATTLICA (+175) (6:00 am ET)
BATTLICA had a much harder time fighting off Element Mystic than O2 Blast had with Lucky Future in the quarterfinals. Both of these teams won one of the four week-long tournaments leading up to the playoff bracket, but O2 Blast has a better trajectory across the four weeks. Despite the lack of value, I like them to win here.
Final Prediction: O2 Blast wins
World Game Star Phoenix (-315) v. RunAway (+220) (8:00 am ET)
World Game Star Phoenix won in Week 4 and rolled fairly easily in the quarterfinal round, while RunAway pulled off the upset. RunAway did have their best week in Week 4, but I’m not betting against a defending champion on a run.
Final Prediction: World Game Star Phoenix wins
Loser’s Bracket (Round 1)
Lucky Future (+175) vs Element Mystic (-245) (2:00 am ET)
Lucky Future got drubbed in their quarterfinal match, while Element Mystic pushed theirs to the five-game limit. Element Mystic also had a better track record throughout the four weeks leading up to this bracket, so I’m going with them here.Final Prediction: Element Mystic wins
Gen.G Esports vs T1 (NL) (4:00 am ET)
If a line opens up on this match, I’d take Gen.G Esports in what would likely be odds that reward an upset. T1 won Week 1 but has not done well since then, which continued in their upset loss in the quarterfinals. Take Gen.G Esports to send T1 home.
Final Prediction: Gen.G Esports wins
