Overwatch is one of the multiplayer team-based first-person shooter video games that has become part of the professional e-sports leagues. Teams of six square off, with the goal of attacking each other or accomplishing a particular objective. Each player chooses one of the 30 available heroes to serve as an avatar. Some heroes serve as Damage characters (primary attackers), Support (bringing healing and other bonuses to the Damage characters) and Tank characters (using high health totals to protect other teammates). Semifinals (May 22)
Team Doge vs Triumph (6:00 pm ET)
In Week 1, Team Doge was not part of the competition, and Triumph did not make it to the Round of 12. Triumph did advance to the quarterfinals in Week 2, falling to Saints at that point, while Team Doge remained out. In Week 3, Team Doge rolled to victory, losing just one game while winning 12 in their four playoff matches, including a sweep of Third Impact in the finals. Triumph made it to the semifinals, where they lost to Team Doge. Given Team Doge’s performance in Week 3, I like them to win again.
Prediction: Team Doge wins
Second Wind vs Third Impact (7:30 pm ET)Second Wind won the Week 1 competition, while Third Impact bowed out in the Round of 12. Third Impact would win Week 2, while Second Wind lost in the quarterfinals to the Montreal Rebellion. In Week 3, Second Wind would settle for third place, losing to Third Impact, 3-0, in the semifinals. I see Third Impact winning again, but I don’t see it happening in a sweep.
Prediction: Third Impact wins
