The only team event on the PGA Tour is set for this weekend as the Zurich Classic of New Orleans is your Golf sports betting choice from professional golf for the weekend. The tournament consists of 80 two-man teams. Each will play in best ball format on Thursday and alternate shot on Friday. After that, the top 35 teams and ties will remain. The format reverts to best ball on Saturday and alternate shot on Sunday. The course is TPC Louisiana and has been since 2005. It runs 7,425 yards and plays at par 72. The 18th hole is a beast, running 589 yards, a par-five with water all up and down the right side. The favorites, Jason Day and Adam Scott, are up there for a reason. Day has finished in the top five twice at the Zurich Classic and has been hot lately, cracking the top 15 in eight of his last 11 tournaments. Scott has never played at TPC Louisiana before, but he has seven top-20 finishes in the last eight tournaments in which he has made it to the weekend — including a runner-up result at the Farmers Insurance Open. As far as current play goes, this is the top pairing in the entire field.
Patrick Reed and Patrick Cantlay have teamed up together well in the past, as they had a shot at the 2018 Hero Challenge. Reed has made the cut three times at the Zurich Classic, and each time he has finished in the top 25. Cantlay took third at the RBC Heritage last week and finished seventh at this event in 2018.
Billy Horschel and Scott Piercy are the defending champions, and they won thanks to a killer short game in the last round. It is unusual for teams to win this event more than once, but Horschel did win here in 2013 when the Zurich Classic was not yet a team event. Piercy also finished in third at the RBC Heritage last week, so this is a team that could get hot at just the right time.
Want a dark horse? Take a look at Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown. They finished as the second-place team two years ago and cracked the top 20 in 2018. The chemistry that these two appear to share in team play makes up for some deficiencies as far as individual prowess goes. Their skills match up well and they play together successfully — so consider nabbing them from down the odds list.
