TPC Scottsdale in Arizona is the site of this week’s PGA Tour event: the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The course runs 7,261 yards and plays to par-71, with POA greens. After the first two rounds, the standard top-65 and ties cut will apply. Scottie Scheffler returns as the defending champion after posting a -16 score here in 2022, beating Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. Scheffler would go on to win four tournaments last year. Last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was notably lacking in top-tier talent, but 22 of the world’s top 25 players in the world will tee it up in Scottsdale, including favorites Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, currently ranked #1 in the world. Let’s check out the top contender odds (+6000 or better) as well as some of our Golf betting suggestions for the tournament.

Want to talk about some dark horses? Let’s look at Keith Mitchell. He can bomb the ball off the tee, which is a big advantage at SCottsdale. In his last 24 rounds, he is second in this field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and 11th in driving distance. He came in T10 here last year and T16 in 2020. He has also been gaining strokes with his approach in three of his last four tournaments, which has led to two finishes in the top 25. If he can pair those skills again, he could vault up the leaderboard.
Another dark horse is Wyndham Clark, who has made the cut in two of the last three Waste Management Phoenix Opens and has made six cuts in a row, with four finishes in the top 30. Over his last 24 rounds, he ranks second in this field in driving distance, and he has gotten his best putting splits on POA grass, having made eight straight cuts and delivered five finishes of at least T35 with this putting surface.
Finally, there’s Brendan Steele, who has started 12 tournaments at TPC Scottsdale and cracked the top 30 eight times. He has made five cuts in a row and has gained strokes off the tee and with approach collectively at four of those tournaments. At the CJ Cup, he finished T18, and he came in T20 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
