While much of North America struggles with winter weather this week, the PGA Tour is wrapping up its yearly two-week trip to Hawaii with the Sony Open, set for Waialae Country Club, which runs 7,044 yards and offers Bermudagrass greens, playing as a par 70. Last week’s event at Kapalua had an abbreviated 59-player field, but this week’s event has a full field and a 36-hole cut. The defending champion, Si Woo Kim, returns this time around. Other top contenders in this field include Ludvig Aberg, Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Tyrrell Hatton. Chris Kir, who won The Sentry last week, will also play this weekend. Check out the golf betting odds for the field contenders (+10000 or better odds) along with some of our smart picks.

Bet on the 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii!
This is a putting tournament a lot of the time, and Corey Conners has always putted well here, gaining an average of .51 strokes per ground on the green. He has finished no worse than T12 in four straight starts here, including T3 in 2019. He hit well at Kapalua last week, gaining four strokes with his approach. He did lose more than five strokes on the greens, but his track record here suggests that he could turn things around this week.
Matt Kuchar has played this tournament eight times in the last ten years, finishing in the top 15 six times. In 2022 and 2023, he finished T7 both times. In the fall season, Kuchar stayed busy, entering five tournaments in the PGA and DP World Tour. He was the runner-up at the World Wide Technology Championship and finished T7 at the Fortinet.
Ben Griffin fits the profile of a winner at Waialae: he has a solid approach game and a confident putter. He was tops in the field at the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship with 7.11 strokes gained on approach, which led to a T2 result. He ranks second in this 140-player field in strokes gained: putting over his last 12 rounds (2.29). Griffin was also busy in the fall season, following up his near-win at Sanderson Farms with a T23 at the World Wide Technology Championship and a T8 at the RSM Classic. He finished T12 here a year ago, gaining more than a full stroke per round with his putter.
Matthew Fitzpatrick makes his Waialae debut, but he won the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town in 2023, and that course has a lot of similarities with Waialae. He finished poorly at The Sentry, as he settled for a T14. He finished T4 at the Hero World Challenge.
J.T. Poston finished with an 8-under 65 on Sunday at Kapalua and finished T5. He has made the cut at the Sony Open in each of the last two years, coming in 21st last year. In 2019, he also finished well, coming in 20th.
