The Breeders’ Cup is just about the only major event in the world of horse racing that did not have its schedule remain unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over November 6 and 7, there are 14 races set for Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. Saturday’s slate will end with the Breeders’ Cup Classic, bringing a day of racing for the older horses to a close. Let’s take a look at some top sports betting picks for the festival that you should bet against their Breeder’s Cup odds.
2020 Breeders’ Cup Horse Racing Picks for November 6th
Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (Nov. 6th at 12:02 pm ET)
- 7 Furlongs for fillies and mares, three years and older
Come Dancing (currently at 8-1) has won five graded stakes and won her last race, the Honorable Miss Stakes (Grade II) at Saratoga. Her speed figure there was a 102 in spite of a quick pace, showing that she had the stamina down the stretch against a strong field. The fact that there are other quick starters in Saturday’s race give her an edge given her pressing style. Bell’s the One is another contender to add to your money picks.
Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint ( Nov. 6th at 12:39 pm ET)
- 5 ½ Furlongs for horses three years and older
Glass Slippers (currently at 12-1) could be the first female horse to win this race in seven years — and the first horse based in Europe ever to win it. She won the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at Ireland’s Curragh and has two other second-place finishes in graded stakes in 2020. At 5 ½ furlongs, she is 5-2-2-0. If you’re going to look at a longer shot, this is usually the race to do it. The average payout for the win on a $2 bet in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Spring is $24.93, more than any other Breeders’ Cup race. Other contenders include Imprimis, Leinster and Extravagant Kid.
Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (Nov. 6th at 1:18 pm ET)
- 1 mile for horses three years and older
Mr Freeze (currently at 6-1) runs a mile for the first time since July. That didn’t go well for him, as he was sixth at the Metropolitan Handicap. He got bumped in the early going and ended up way outside by the deep stretch. In his other six races on a mile, he has a 3-2-1-0 record, with two wins in graded stakes. His best Brisnet speed figure at a mile is 106, third best in this field. The other two are Knicks Go (110) and Complexity (109). However, both of those horses peaked in their most recent race, so they could be due for a correction. Rushie is another horse to look at for the dirt mile.
Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (Nov. 6th at 1:57 pm ET)
- 1 3/16 miles for fillies and mares, three years and older
Starship Jubilee (currently at 10-1) won the Woodbine Mile Stakes (Grade I) against a field of males in September, giving her five victories in six starts in 2020. The only outlier was the Diana Stakes (Grade I), where she came in fourth. However, she got pushed wide and had the second-fastest overall speed in the race. Sistercharlie, Rushing Fall and Harvey’s Lil Goil are also horses to consider here.
Breeders’ Cup Classic (Nov. 6th at 5:13 pm ET)
- 1 ¼ miles for horses three years and older
Maximum Security (currently at 7-2 odds) has three wins in four races. He won two graded stakes and the Saudi Cup. At the Awesome Again Stakes (Grade I) in September, he was second to Improbable, but he hit a new pace top, reaching a 109 pace figure on the half-mile mark, which suggests he’s ready to put the hammer down this weekend. Tacitus, Tiz the Law and Improbable are other horses to consider.
