Written by on October 11, 2017

Everything looked rosy for the Cleveland Indians after Saturday night, as they had turned an 8-3 deficit in Game Two of this American League Division Series into a 9-8 win in extra innings. Then the series headed to The Bronx for Games Three and Four, and all the Yankees did was tie things up and send things back to Cleveland, where the ALDS Game 5 Odds are with the home team. We’ll see the Game Two starters once again, as C.C. Sabathia and Corey Kluber will face off. Can the Baby Bombers pull off one more win and send the Tribe home? Or is their Cinderella story about to come to an end? Check out our latest MLB Odds and betting preview on this terrific postseason matchup.

Why should you take the Yankees ALDS Game 5 Odds?

C.C. Sabathia pitched well in Game Two, throwing 5 ⅓ strong innings. The meltdown for the Yankees came when their bullpen was on the mound — and when manager Joe Girardi should have challenged a hit-by-pitch call but oddly decided not to. A lot of the Indians’ regulars have struggled against Sabathia in their careers — none of them have a career average against him over .263, and only three of them have a career average over .200. He has posted a 9-5 record in 20 playoff appearances (19 starts), and a 4.47 ERA, showing that you can get to him. But will the Indians? Coming home doesn’t necessarily mean a win for the Indians, either. Since the creation of the Division Series format, there have been 30 Game Fives. Of those, the home team has won just 13 — and the home team has won just six of the last 20 over the last 15 seasons. So you could definitely look at this as a momentum issue for the Yankees, who ride that two-game winning streak back into Progressive Field.

Why should you take the Indians ALDS Game 5 Odds?

To be sure, Corey Kluber did not look good in Game Two. He got shelled for six runs in just 2 ⅔ innings, and it was the Cleveland hitters who got things going in the right direction and just in time to send the game into extra innings and then to steal the walk-off win. However, Kluber comes in on his normal four days’ rest, and he has an 11-3 record and a 1.67 ERA during the 2017 regular season when he comes in on that rest schedule. He also told ESPN that he identified a particular command issue that he has rectified for Game Five in his delivery. Is he right? We’ll see when he takes the mound tonight. The ALDS Game 5 Odds are with Corey Kluber and the Indians.   In Game Four, the Indians were able to avoid using a top reliever, Andrew Miller. They also should get Edwin Encarnacion (ankle) back. Lonnie Chisenhall (calf) and Michael Brantley (ankle) have been hobbling around a little bit, but injuries are part of the game, especially at this time of the year, and Jose Ramirez has not hit as well in Games Three and Four. If you like the Indians, then you see Kluber pitching with his usual form, and you see the Indians’ batters finding their groove back on their home field. The Indians do face the pressure here, as the defending pennant winners, while the Yankees are a young club, happy to be here.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Yankees have overachieved this season and bring huge energy every night out. However, I don’t see Corey Kluber putting up two poor outings in this series, and I don’t see the Indians’ hitters going cold three games in a row. I see the Indians holding off the Baby Bombers and moving on to face Houston in the American League Championship Series with a 4-2 win.
