Boston Red Sox v Seattle Mariners

Angels and Red Sox Resume MLB Betting Series on Saturday Night

Baseball is a game where stats are truly king. Fans of the game love nothing more than to break down the stats in order to make an informed decision when betting on a game. One stat that does a good job of telling you where a team is at is run differential. The teams that have a high positive number are usually the ones on top of their division, while those with the lower numbers tend to struggle. The Boston Red Sox and LA Angels are both in the negative, but are having very different seasons. These two will meet up for an exciting 3-game MLB betting series in Boston with the second game set for Saturday night.

The Red Sox (19-22) have a dismal -35 run differential, and are in fact the only team in the AL East to be in the negative. This stat is not being helped by the fact that their bats have gone absolutely stone cold as of late, with just 17 runs scored in their last 9 games. The biggest surprise here is that they were actually able to win 4 of those games to stay within reach of the Tampa Bay Rays at the top of the division. That is not something that they are going to be able to maintain if they cannot quickly find a way to start getting runners across home plate. It also doesn’t help that they have not been able to put together a win streak of more than 3 games to this point in the season. Steven Wright (1-1, 4.02 ERA) will start for Boston on Saturday. He has received almost nothing in the way of run support in his last 2 starts. The LA Angels (21-20) are finally above .500, and have seen their run differential shrink down to a -1. A solid weekend outing against the Red Sox could see them get into the positive digits by the time this series comes to an end. The Angels are an impressive 7-3 in their last 10 games, but even at that pace, they have been unable to close the gap on the AL West division leading Houston Astros, who have yet to go on a cold streak all season long. The Angels just need to keep winning and playing solid ball, and the rest will take care of itself. Once the Boston series is over, the Angels get to head home for a 10-game home stand that is sure to help their cause. C.J. Wilson (2-2, 3.06 ERA) will start for the Angels on Saturday.

Los Angeles Angels
The Boston Red Sox look like a team in trouble right now, and things are not going to get any easier against a hot Angels team. I like the Angels to win this one, as well as the entire series.
