ATS MLB Picks for the Coming Weekend (June 17-19)

Interested in some ATS MLB picks? There are some terrific series this weekend, as the Rangers visit St. Louis in a rematch from that dramatic 2011 World Series, the Tigers visit Kansas City in that logjam atop the American League Central (while the Indians host the White Sox, so all four teams in that logjam will be facing off against one another), the Pirates and Cubs tilt in the Windy City in that NL Central, and the Mariners are in Boston as two potential AL playoff foes face off. ATS MLB Picks for the Coming Weekend (June 17-19)

Seattle Mariners at Boston Red Sox (Friday, June 17th)

Pitching Matchup: Hisashi Iwakuma (5-5, 4.10 ERA) (SEA) vs Roenis Elias (0-0, 16.20 ERA) (BOS) MLB Odds: Seattle +123, Boston -133 Sure, the Boston Red Sox are just a game out of first in the American League East and average almost six runs a game, while the Mariners have been in a tailspin since the Texas Rangers swept them down in Arlington a couple weeks ago and then took two of three up in the Emerald City. But the Red Sox are starting a call-up who the Mariners already know (because he made all 49 of his career starts so far in Seattle) who has gotten shelled in action so far this year. Iwakuma has gone 4-1 with a 3.71 ERA in his last five outings. I like the Mariners to win this game 6-4.

Colorado Rockies at Miami Marlins (Saturday, June 18th)

Pitching Matchup: Tyler Chatwood (8-4, 2.89 ERA) (COL) vs Wei-Yin Chen (4-2, 4.68 ERA) (MIA) MLB Odds: Colorado -114, Miami +104 How does Wei-Yin Chen have a 4.68 ERA with a 4-2 record? Well, the Marlins have scored a lot of runs when he’s been on the mound, and Chen has given up a lot of home runs, especially lately (seven in his last two outings). When the Marlins bailed him out and got him a win in San Diego his last time out, he became the first Marlin pitcher to permit four home runs in a game and still pick up the win. Opposite him will be Tyler Chatwood, who has a sparkling 0.65 road ERA this season. The Rockies have won five of his last six outings, and in his last road appearance, he only permitted the Dodgers a single run and a single hit in eight strong innings. I’m predicting a 6-1 Rockies win.

San Francisco Giants at Tampa Bay Rays (Saturday, June 18th)

Pitching Matchup: Jake Peavy (3-6, 5.83 ERA) (SF) vs Matt Moore (3-4, 5.05 ERA) (TB) MLB Odds: San Francisco +117, Tampa Bay -127 Even with this pitching matchup, I’m a little surprised at these odds. The Giants (41-26) are running away with the National League West right now, but they’re under the radar thanks to that terrific start by the Cubs. They don’t have the marquee magic of Jake Arrieta and Jason Hammel, so they’re winning quietly — which is just the way they like it, as that’s how they got Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Jake Peavy picked up his 150th career win his last time out, and while Matt Moore did through seven shutout innings in his last start against the Astros, the Giants have a much better offense than Houston and don’t have a problem hitting fastball pitchers. I’m predicting a 4-3 San Francisco win.
