Minnesota Twins

MLB Betting Predictions: It’s Time for the Twins to Get Back on Track

No team wants to lose a series, but if it is going to happen, you just hope that it’s not a sweep. A single win in a series can help a team take away something positive, but a sweep can deliver doubts, and can often serve as the beginning of a much longer winless drought. The Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners are coming into their 4-game MLB betting series after being swept, and will be looking for a little redemption. The second game of the series will go on Saturday night in Minnesota.

Date/Time: Saturday, August 1st, 7:10 PM Venue: Target Field, Minneapolis, MN TV: ROOT SPORTS Radio: 710 ESPN Opening Line:Minnesota -116 Not only did the Twins (52-48) just get swept in a 2-game series by the Pittsburgh Pirates, they saw their winless streak extend to 4 games. Worse yet, they have failed to win any of the 4 series they have played in to start the second half. This poor run of form has seen them drop 9 games off the pace being set by the Royals in the AL Central, which is a lead that is going to be nigh on impossible to overcome given how KC is playing. The Twins are now also starting to feel the chasing teams nipping at their heels in the Wild Card race. They still hold the second spot, but the surging Orioles are now just a game back. Tommy Milone (5-2, 3.58 ERA) will start for the Twins on Friday. Minnesota has lost 4 of the last 5 games he has started. Things were starting to look up for the Mariners (46-56) in July, as it looked as though their offense had finally decided to come to life. The results have not really matched this resurgence, though, and now Seattle is going to have to come into this series on the heels of a sweep at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The AL West basement is calling, and it would seem that Seattle might be in the mood to sell in the days leading up to the trade deadline. There really does seem to be no way back for them now, so a few new faces might just help freshen things up a little. Taijuan Walker (7-7, 5.03 ERA) will take to the mound for the Mariners who have won 8 of the last 9 games he has started.

SEATTLE MARINERS

MINNESOTA TWINS
  • Byron Buxton OF 15-Day DL

Both of these teams do well when their scheduled starting pitchers take to the mound, which means something has to give here. I think it will give in the favor of the Twins, who I think will get back on track in this series.
