Identifying the Best MLB Pitchers of Week 13 to Watch and Target

Identifying the Best MLB Pitchers of Week 12 to Watch and Target

Ready to MLB Betting? The New York Yankees are already off to a tremendous start in 2024, holding a 1 ½-game lead over Baltimore in the torrid American League East.

Their 50-24 record is the best in all of Major League Baseball, and the team is about to get another key point contributor back as ace starting pitcher and defending American League Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole is set to return.

He opened the year on the injured list thanks to edema and nerve irritation in his right elbow, as has been noted after three rehab starts in the minors, he will start on Wednesday against Baltimore. In his last rehab outing for AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he threw 4 ⅓ innings, allowing just one unearned run on two hits, striking out ten without a walk.

Over his three rehab starts, he tossed a combined 12 ⅓ innings, permitting two runs (one earned), fanning 19 without a walk. It looks like he’s locked in, so he’s definitely a pitcher to watch this week.

Check out some of the other dominant MLB starting pitchers right now as you plan your sports betting on the national pastime.

2024 MLB Betting Top Starting Pitchers After Week 11 | MLB Odds

Tanner Houck, Boston Red Sox

Pitcher Stats: 7-5, 2.08 ERA, 89 K, 0.95 WHIP

Playing for the hard-luck Red Sox has tarnished Houck’s win-loss record this year, but in the categories he can control, such as WHIP, innings pitched, and ERA, he ranks in the top ten. He also had a quality start against the high-powered Philadelphia offense in his last start.

His ERA has gotten no higher in order to 2.30 this season, and he has been the most consistent starting pitcher for the Red Sox.

Tyler Glasnow, L.A. Dodgers

Pitcher Stats:7-5, 3.00 ERA, 125 K, 1.07 WHIP

Glasnow is another key point starter with a misleading win-loss record. He leads MLB in strikeouts, and he leads the National League in innings pitched. It’s part of a dominant Dodger rotation, as has been noted as others have had stints on the injured list, continues to put up quality numbers.

On Sunday, he blanked the Kansas City Royals for seven solid innings. As the Dodger offense continues to increase its consistency, Glasnow’s win-loss record will more accurately reflect how well he’s been pitching.

Seth Lugo, Kansas City Royals

Pitcher Stats:10-2, 2.40 ERA, 79 K, 1.05 WHIP

Lugo has only been a full-time starting pitcher for one complete season as an illustration this year, and he is in the top ten in innings pitched, ERA and victories. The Royals haven’t been to the postseason for almost a decade, but if they do make it, Lugo’s reliability every fifth game will be one of the reasons.

Shota Imanaga, Chicago Cubs

Pitcher Stats:7-1, 1.89 ERA, 78 K, 0.99 WHIP

Imanaga is having a terrific rookie season. He’s 3rd in MLB in ERA, and it’s in the top ten of NL pitchers in victories and WHIP.

He joined the Cubs from Japan, so he’s not as young as some traditional rookies, as has been noted he’s still made huge contributions to the team sniffing the postseason.

Ranger Suarez, Philadelphia Phillies

Pitcher Stats:10-1, 1.77 ERA, 91 K, 0.88 WHIP

Suarez is back in our list this week as a result of his sheer dominance. He is the front-runner for the NL Cy Young Award right now, tied for the MLB lead in wins and ranked in the top five in batting average permitted, WHIP and ERA. In his last outing, he threw 6 ⅔ strong innings, permitting just one run.
