Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers MLB Lines Report

On Friday night, the Chicago White Sox arrive in Detroit for a three-game weekend set with their AL Central foes. The Sox are 29-25 and are in second place in the division, two games behind the Royals, after taking two of three in the Big Apple from the New York Mets. The Tigers (25-27) have slipped to fourth place in the division after dropping four of their last five. They did reverse the slide with a 3-0 win over the Angels on Wednesday. When: Friday, June 3, 2016, 7:10pm Eastern time Where: Comerica Park, Detroit TV: CSN, FSD RadioChicago / Detroit Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Carlos Rodon (2-4, 4.24 ERA) (CHI) vs Jordan Zimmermann (7-2, 2.52 ERA) (DET)

Why should you bet on Chicago?

Carlos Rodon’s numbers as a starting pitcher are a little misleading. He had a couple of inconsistent starts early in the season, but he had dynamite stuff on Saturday, when he held the Royals to a single run on six hits and three strikeouts, only to see the bullpen blow a 7-1 lead and leave him with a no-decision. The Sox played a tough series in New York and came out on top in two close games, which shows that their clutch hitting is returning to the state it was early on, when the White Sox came out of the gate just as hot as their crosstown rivals at Wrigley.

Why should you put your money on the Tigers?

Detroit signed Jordan Zimmermann to deliver ace-quality results, and he has delivered so far. He developed that 7-2 record through May 22, when he left the rotation to treat a right groin strain. However, each of his starts before that injury lasted at least six innings (although he could be on a pitch count restriction in this game, so you’ll want to review injury reports in Friday’s news). Zimmermann left the National League to come to Detroit, so he is facing a White Sox lineup that has very little exposure to him. The only Chicago hitter with significant experience with Zimmermann is Jimmy Rollins, who is only hitting .188 in 32 at-bats against him…although with a pair of home runs.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Prediction

I like Zimmermann to limit the White Sox early, but the possibility of him sitting after five innings or after a short pitch count opens up that vulnerable Tiger bullpen. I’m predicting a 5-3 Chicago win.
