Chicago White Sox vs Houston Astros MLB Betting Odds and Game Preview

With a quarter of the MLB Betting season, teams have to seriously think about whether they need to make changes, or simply try to find a way to maintain the status quo. The Houston Astros are a team that are likely content to stick with things as they are right now, while the Chicago White Sox must be contemplating what it is they need to do to get out of the cellar. These two teams will meet for a 3-game series in Houston starting on Friday.

The Astros (30-18) have been excellent through the first two months of the season, and have been scoring a ton of runs despite having a middling on base percentage. That is a tough thing to maintain, which may explain why they are just 5-5 through their past 10 games. They have now lost 2 of their last 3 series, and are simply not scoring runs at the rate they were earlier in the season. This is not necessarily a sign that they are about to fold up the tent and go on a total collapse, though. The 6-game lead that they have atop the division affords them a little room, but they will have their eyes on a Seattle Mariners team that has looked strong of late, and is closing that gap. Lance McCullers (1-0, 2.53 ERA) will get just his third start of the season on Friday and will be looking to win a second straight game. The Chicago White Sox (20-24) came into the season with a lot of new faces in the lineup and the hope that those changes would propel them forward. To this point in the season, it simply hasn’t happened. As the Sox continue to flounder, going just 3-7 in their last 10, other teams in the division are putting things together and making a move. Just a single game separates the division leading Minnesota Twins from third placed Detroit, while the Sox see the gap between themselves and first place continue to grow. While the panic button may not quite be ready to be pushed just yet, there are sure to be some anxious fingers hovering over it. Carlos Rodon (1-0, 4.03 ERA) will be on the mound for the Sox on Friday. Rodon was passed over the last time he was due to start, so perhaps look for a little rust in the early innings. Carlos Rodon

The .500 record of the Astros of late is what I believe to be a minor blip. I think they will get things rolling again sooner rather than later, and I like them to win this game on Friday.
