Why should you bet on the Dodgers?

However, he has made two starts in this postseason for the Dodgers, fanning 14 men and permitting just a pair of runs overall. It is Darvish’s knee-buckling curve ball that makes him such a dominant strikeout pitcher, and if he can avoid from leaving fastballs out over the plate, he should pitch well against Houston. Aftera ll, of the Houston regulars, only George Springer (.333, 2 HR, 3 RBI) has a career average against Darvish that is higher than .222, and only five Astros have career averages of .200 or better against the Dodgers’ hurler. Only six of the Dodgers’ hitters have ever faced Lance McCullers Jr., but they have fared well in limited action. Andre Ethier (3 for 3), Enrique Hernandez (1 for 2), Yasiel Puig (2 for 3) and Chase Utley (1 for 3) have all found pitches to hit against the Astros’ righty. If you like the Dodgers, then you see them bouncing back from seeing the Astros come back. In a sense, moving to the American League park actually helps the National League team, because they get to add a designated hitter to their lineup, when they are used to having their pitcher in their batting order.

Why should you put your money on the Astros?

Well, the Houston Astros are undefeated at home in these playoffs, winning both games at Minute Maid in the ALDS against Boston and all four at home against the Yankees in the ALCS. Their bats wake up at home, and opposing pitching staffs have a hard time dealing with the onslaught. However, Carlos Correa and George Springer are the only two Astros who have ever homered off Darvish — and they’ve seen him plenty of times, with the amount of time that Darvish spent with Texas — one of the Astros’ foes in the AL West. McCullers pitched four innings of shutout relief in Game Seven against the Yankees, and he pitched 10 innings overall in the ALCS, permitting just a single run on three hits, striking out nine batters. If you like the Astros, you see them getting to Darvish early while their own third starter limits the Dodgers’ lineup.

So while the Astros may have seized home field advantage now, my money is on the Dodgers to win Game Three by the score of 5-2 and put the pressure back on Houston.
