White Sox vs. Angels

Baseball Odds are Against Angels, Pick White Sox on Tuesday

One man does not make a team, but he can certainly improve their baseball odds when he is at his best. Mike Trout has been a revelation since coming into the league, and has he gone, so have the Angels. They are going to need Trout to be at his very best if they are to make it into the playoffs. The Angels will get their week started at home when they welcome in the Chicago White Sox for a 4-game set. The second game of the series will go on Tuesday night. Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels MLB Game Info Date/Time: Tuesday, August 18th, 10:05 PM Location: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, CA TV: FS-W Radio: KWKW 1330, KLAA 830 Opening Line: Los Angeles Angels -165 If you go back to July 26th, you will see that the Angels are just 5-14 in the games played since that date. The reason I point that out is because that was the day in which Mike Trout injured his wrist. While he has continued to play through the pain, he has seen his offensive numbers drop off dramatically. This may be enough to make me reconsider the whole thing about one man not making a team, but there is more than enough talent on this squad for them not be struggling like this. The Angels have fallen 3.5 games back of the Astros in the West, and have also relinquished the hold they had on the final Wild Card spot. The Texas Rangers are now breathing down their necks, as are a number of other teams in the Wild Card chase. Garrett Richards (11-9, 3.55 ERA) will get the start for LA on Tuesday. The chances of the White Sox (55-60) getting into the postseason are pretty slim despite the fact that they are just 4.5 games out of the Wild Card. The problem for them is that there are just too many teams ahead of them right now. It also doesn’t help that they don’t seem able to get anything going right now, which is highlighted by their 5-5 record in the last 10 games. The management must now be questioning their decision not to ship out Jeff Samardzija at the trade deadline. The big man was great on the mound for them heading into the deadline, but he has gone into the tank hard since then, losing 3 straight while giving up 22 earned runs. It will be John Danks (6-9, 4.58 ERA) who will start. Danks has been pretty solid of late, giving up just 5 earned runs in his last 3 starts.

Los Angeles Angels

Key Betting Trends
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Chi White Sox’s last 7 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Chi White Sox’s last 5 games when playing on the road against LA Angels
  • LA Angels is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Chi White Sox
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of LA Angels’s last 5 games when playing at home against Chi White Sox
The Angels are spinning out of control and out of the playoffs in a big way, and I think things are about to go from bad to worse. I like the White Sox to get the win on Tuesday night.
