Why should you bet on the Diamondbacks?
The Diamondbacks’ pitching staff remains somewhat up in the air, thanks to their use of both Zack Greinke and Robbie Ray, their top two starters, in the wild card game against Colorado. Rich Hill will take the mound for his fifth career postseason start. His home ERA (2.77) is significantly better than his numbers away from Dodger Stadium (4.06). However, the Dodgers have some daunting numbers to consider in this rivalry. In the 19 contests that they played, the Diamondbacks outscored the Dodgers, 99-71 and hit 32 home runs to the Dodgers’ 18. However, they have some impressive numbers of their own, as they won 57 of the 81 games that they played at home this season.
If you like the Dodgers, then you think that the top three pitchers in their rotation (Kershaw, Hill and Yu Darvish) can manage the Diamondback lineup, while their own bats find ways to challenge the Arizona pitching staff. You also think that the Dodgers can put past postseason failures behind them and take the challenge of moving to the National League Championship Series.
