Pick Brewers in Sunday MLB Betting Against Cincinnati

Written by on August 28, 2015

Even when the entire MLB betting season has been something of a disaster, teams still want to find something positive to look back on once it’s over. That is why you will often see poor teams make a strong push in the final few weeks, with job security also playing a part. The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers will be looking for some of those positives when they meet up in Milwaukee on Sunday.

Cincinnati vs. Milwaukee MLB Game Info

Date/Time: Sunday, August 30th, 2:10 PM Location: Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI TV: FSWI Radio: WTMJ 620, WRRD 1510 Opening line: TBA The month of August has been an unmitigated disaster for the Cincinnati Reds (52-74). They have posted a pretty awful 5-16 record through the first 27 days of the month, and probably cannot wait until the calendar flips over to September. They have been swept 3 times during this stretch, and have lost games in every single way you can imagine. We have spoken before about rookie pitcher Raisel Iglesisas and how well he has done this season. He will be a player that the Reds can start to build around in the offseason, because it’s becoming all too apparent that the players they have now are simply not up to the task. Things might well get worse before they get better, as the Reds schedule the rest of the way is not particularly kind to them. John Lamb (0-2, 6.06 ERA) has gone winless in all 3 of his starts for Cincinnati. On paper, things don’t look that much better over in Milwaukee (53-74), but look a little deeper and you will see a team that is making all the right moves. The Brewers were very active at the trade deadline, landing a number of hot young prospects that got fans of this team more than a little excited about the future. That is not going to have any sort of impact on this season, though, and there are sure to be quite a few more losses taken before all is said and done. Milwaukee comes into this one having lost 4 in a row, and 6 of their last 8. They have been giving up a lot of runs, too, with 32 yielded in the last 4 games alone. Milwaukee can score, though, so look for this series to be on the high-scoring side of things. Wily Peralta (4-8, 4.55 ERA) will be on the mound for the Brewers.

Key Betting Trends

  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Cincinnati’s last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Cincinnati’s last 10 games when playing on the road against Milwaukee
  • The total has gone OVER in 6 of Milwaukee’s last 7 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Milwaukee’s last 10 games when playing at home against Cincinnati
There really isn’t much separating these two teams, and in this match-up, it may come down to pitching. If that is indeed the case, then I have to give the Brewers the edge here.
