Red Sox May Pay Off in MLB Betting vs Blue Jays This Wednesday

Written by on April 28, 2015

The AL East may not be home to the best teams in baseball at the moment, but it sure is fun to watch if your idea of MLB betting fun is seeing high scoring games. 4 of the 5 teams in the division have scored over 100 runs, and 3 of them have given up over 100. In order to remain competitive, it’s fair to say that the number of runs being given up by that group needs to be brought under control. Two of the teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox, will play the final game of a 3-game series on Wednesday in Boston.

Toronto vs Boston: MLB Betting Game Analysis

Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2015 Time: 6:10PM Venue: Fenway Park Opening Line: Boston -125
The Toronto Blue Jays (9-11) have scored the most runs (105) in the MLB this season, yet still find themselves in the cellar of the AL East. Their issues are pretty easy to figure out, as everyone is well aware at this point that their bullpen is going to be their Achilles heel if they don’t make some changes. They have seen their starting rotation deliver some pretty solid outings, only to see it all fall apart when it comes time to make the call to the pen. The hope has to be that this is just an early season glitch, but all signs are pointing to it being a real issue all year long. Veteran knuckleball pitcher R.A. Dickey (0-2, 5.25 ERA) is set to get the start on Wednesday. Dickey has been unlucky not to get a win yet this season, as the Jays bats seem to go gold when he is on the mound. He was hit hard in his last start versus the Rays, though, and will need to improve against a hard-hitting Boston team. boston-red-sox-mlb-betting Boston (11-9) got off to a very solid start this season, but have faltered in 3 straight series versus division foes. They went 3-4 against the Orioles and 1-2 versus the Rays over the last 10 games, but did manage to win the first game in this series versus the Jays. They actually have similar problems to Toronto in that they are scoring a lot of runs, but don’t seem able to stop their opponents from also getting on the board on an all too regular basis. After this series, they will have another 89 straight games against division opponents, giving them ample opportunity to get back on top if they can perform well. Rick Porcello (1-2, 6.48 ERA) is the scheduled starter for Boston on Wednesday. Porcello needs to become more consistent, as he is basically going from pitching well to getting hammered in his 4 starts to this point.

What Should You Bet On?

I think the trend of high scoring games when these teams are involved will continue on Wednesday. I also think that the Red Sox will get to Dickey early and often, which will result in them winning this one.
