San Francisco at San Diego MLB Odds & Expert Pick

The San Francisco Giants open the second half in San Diego, rolling out their ace, Madison Bumgarner, against the San Diego Padres. The Giants (57-33) lead the National League West and have the best record in all of MLB, while the Padres (38-51) are a staggering 18 ½ games behind the Giants in the division. Here’s a Quick Look at the San Francisco at San Diego MLB Odds, Expert Pick & TV Info

When: Friday, July 15, 2016, 10:40pm ET Where: Petco Park, San Diego TV: KNTV, FSSD Radio: San Francisco / San Diego Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Madison Bumgarner (10-4, 1.94 ERA) (SF) vs Andrew Cashner (3-7, 5.40 ERA) (SD)

Why should you bet on San Francisco?

Bumgarner staggered a bit before the break, dropping a decision to the Philadelphia Phillies, but the way the schedule worked out he has his normal four days’ rest. In the second half of the season, his career record is 40-25 with a 2.69 ERA. Both of those are higher than what he posted in the first half, but they’re definitely more than competitive. The only Padre who has homered off Bumgarner is Matt Kemp, but he also has a .154 lifetime average against the Giants’ ace in 52 at-bats. The only Padre with more than a few at-bats against Bumgarner who has hit him well is Derek Norris (.300, 1 HR, 30 AB).

Why should you put your money on the Padres?

To be honest, I don’t know that I can recommend putting money down on San Diego here. Andrew Cashner was tattooed for eight earned runs and for home runs in his last start against the Dodgers. Buster Posey (.440, 1 HR), Ruben Tejada (.364), Brandon Crawford (.412, 1 HR), Brandon Belt (.316, 19 HR) and Denard Span (.316) all enjoy hitting off Cashner, and it’s not like the Giants were tumbling into the break like such contenders as the Rangers and the Cubs.

Expert Betting +Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like San Francisco to open the second half of the season with an 8-2 victory over San Diego.
