Boston at Toronto (1:07pm ET, NESN)
When: Saturday, July 1st, 2017. 1:07pm ET Where: Rogers Centre, Toronto TV: MLBN (out-of-market only) / NESN (Boston) / SNET (Toronto) Radio: WCEC 1490 AM (Boston) / SN590 (Toronto) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Betting Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Chris Sale (10-3, 2.77 ERA) (BOS) vs Francisco Liriano (4-3, 5.46 ERA) (TOR) The Red Sox have won three of four, including taking three of four from the Minnesota Twins in a midweek series that ended with a 6-3 win for Boston. Craig Kimbrel has emerged as perhaps the dominant closer in the American League; in 33 games, he has made a one-inning appearance 26 times. In 19 of those, he has retired the side in order. He has converted 22 of 23 save opportunities and has a minuscule 1.04 ERA. He has struck out more than half (51.2 percent) of the hitters he has faced. So the Blue Jays have him waiting at the end of the game, and to start, the Red Sox trot out Chris Sale. He leads the American League in strikeouts with 155 — so at the beginning and end, this matchup doesn’t even seem fair. How Have the Blue Jays Been Doing?
Toronto comes in having dropped two of three at home to the Orioles and four of five before that. The Blue Jays are in danger of sinking back into the same sort of funk that started their season, as the offense is in danger of disappearing. T hey will start Francisco Liriano, who is doing a fairly good job limiting opponent scoring (permitting no more than three runs in four of his last five starts). However, he won’t outduel Sale. Take Boston to win this one.Latest MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals
When: Saturday, July 1st, 2017 Where: Kauffman Stadium, 2:15 PM ET TV: MLB Network (out-of-market only) / FSNO (Minnesota) / FSKC (Kansas City) Stream: MLB.tv Radio: TIBN (Minnesota) / KCSP 610 (Kansas City) MLB Betting Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Hector Santiago (4-7, 5.37 ERA) (MIN) vs Jason Hammel (4-6, 4.75 ERA) (KC) These two pitchers have similar numbers — and the teams have similar records, as the Twins sit just two games ahead of the Royals in the American League Central. Hector Santiago comes back on short rest after a rain delay limited him to two innings in Boston on Tuesday. He permitted a hit, two walks and two earned runs in that short appearance, needing 49 pitches to get through those two frames.Who Will Pitch for the Royals?
Opposite Santiago starts Jason Hammel, who came over to Kansas City from the Cubs in free agency. His numbers have started to improve lately, as he has posted a 2.51 ERA over his last 32 ⅓ innings. Supporting the Royals’ cause are the six combined home runs that Royals batters have hit off Santiago in their careers. Eric Hosmer (.400, 1 HR, 4 RBI), Lorenzo Cain (.318, 5RBI) and Alcides Escobar (.370, 2 RBI) have all had a lot of success off the Twins’ hurler. I see Kansas City picking up this win at home.Latest MLB Betting Trends

Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks
When: Sunday, July 2nd, 2017. 10:10pm ET Where: Chase Field; Phoenix, AZ TV: MLBN (out-of-market only) / ROOTRM (Colorado) / FS-A (Arizona) Radio: KOA 850 AM (Colorado) / 98.7 FM (Arizona) Live Stream: MLB.tv Pitching Matchup: Tyler Chatwood (6-8, 4.32 ERA) (COL) vs Zack Greinke (9-4, 3.08 ERA) (ARI) Tyler Chatwood has had a bit of a dropoff since the earlier months of the season, as control has bitten him. In his last start, he permitted eight walks and four runs in just 3 ⅓ innings. He did pitch well against Arizona when he saw them back in May at Coors Field, limiting them to a single run over seven frames.Who Will Take the Mound for the Dbacks?
Chatwood has the unenviable task of facing Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke. He did have trouble finding the strike zone on Monday, but he still held Philadelphia to one run over five innings, fanning five Phillies. He remains second in the National League for Wins Above Replacement (WAR) at 2.7, and for victories (9). I see Greinke outdueling the Rockies at home, particularly after the Rockies have wilted during this difficult stretch against NL West opponents.Latest MLB Betting Trends
