MLB Betting: Slumping Royals Visit Baltimore Orioles On Friday

Written by on September 10, 2015

Every team goes through a rough patch over the course of a long 162-game season, but it often comes as a surprise when the team in question hasn’t really had one all season long. That is the case with the Kansas City Royals right now, and they will be looking to get back on track when they head to Baltimore to face the Orioles on Friday.

Royals vs Orioles: MLB Betting Game Preview

Date: Friday, September 11, 2015 Time: 7:05PM Venue: Camden Yards Opening MLB Betting Line: Kansas City -117 The Royals (83-56) have gone a very uncharacteristic 3-7 in their last 10 games, but they still have the comfort of knowing that their lead atop the division still sits at 11 games. While the division title is essentially all locked up, the Royals still have to be a little concerned about this little run of form. danny-duffy This is definitely something that they will want to get reversed before the playoffs start in a couple of weeks. They are also going to be hoping that Johnny Cueto finds his form before postseason play gets under way. The ace pitcher has not looked particularly good in Royals blue, and has had 4 consecutive less than stellar starts. This would seem to paint a picture of doom and gloom in KC, but that really isn’t the case, as this is still the team to beat in the American League. Danny Duffy (7-7, 4.17 ERA) will get the start for the Royals on Friday. Mike-Wright At 6.5 games off the pace in the Wild Card, any hope that the Baltimore Orioles (67-72) had of making the playoffs seem to have been dashed. They really haven’t played well enough in the past couple of weeks to warrant a postseason spot, with a stretch where they lost 9 of 11 highlighting just how bad things have been. Like every team that is going to miss out on October, the Orioles have some decisions to make in the offseason, none of which are bigger than the Chris Davis free agency issue. Davis has had another monster year, hitting 41 HR and 104 RBI to this point in the season. What Baltimore decides will ultimately tell fans the direction they want to go in. That said, they are going to have to shell out a lot of money if they want to keep Davis on the payroll. Mike Wright (2-4, 5.19 ERA) will be on the mound for the Orioles.

Key Betting Trends

Kansas City is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games Baltimore is 4-15 SU in its last 19 games The total has gone OVER in 6 of Baltimore’s last 8 games

So, What Should You Bet On?

I don’t expect this slump by the Royals to last very much longer, and while Baltimore appears to have broken out of theirs with a couple of wins over the Yankees, this game is KC’s to lose.
