Texas Rangers vs Oakland A’s MLB Betting Preview

Adding a new face into the locker room can go a couple of different ways: it can give a struggling team a new lease on life, or it can divide a unit that was cohesive before the change. In the case of Josh Hamilton and the Texas rangers, it would appear that the former is the case. The Rangers will complete a 3-game MLB Betting series versus the A’s in Oakland on Thursday afternoon.

Date Time: Thursday, June 11th, 3:35 PM Location: O.co Coliseum, Oakland, California TV: FSSW Radio: 105.3 The Fan Opening Line: Oakland -172 The Texas Rangers (31-27) have gone from a mediocre team to a genuine contender in a pretty short period of time. Heading into these 3 games versus the A’s. Texas has a 6-series win streak going, which they may be able to extend to 7 courtesy of winning the first game against Oakland on Tuesday.  There can be no denying the positive impact that the addition of Josh Hamilton has made on this team, but this is a bunch of guys that is playing well as a team. Of particular note is the performance of the pitching staff, which is doing a pretty bang up job of shutting opponents down. The Rangers are now just 2 games back of the Houston Astros in the AL West, and can continue closing that gap if they continue to play as well as they have been over the past few weeks. Chi Chi Gonzalez (2-0, 0-00 ERA) has been nothing short of spectacular in his two performances so far this season. While the Teas Rangers continue to rise in the West, the Oakland A’s (23-37) slip further and further out of contention. They sit at the bottom of the division, 11 games back of the Astros. They have now lost 4 straight games, and are just 5-5 in their last 10. This team is beginning to see their season slipping away, as it appears that they are destined to shoot themselves in the foot every time it appears that they are about to get something going. The perfect example of that behavior can be found in the sweep they took at the hands of the Boston red Sox, which came immediately after the A’s had swept the Detroit Tigers in pretty convincing fashion. They started out this series with a loss, and could lose even more ground if Texas can continue to roll. Scott Kazmir (2-4, 3.14 ERA) will take to the mound for the A’s on Thursday. The A’s have 8 of the 10 games that Kazmir have started, and have failed to deliver any sort of run support for him. Texas Rangers

TEXAS RANGERS
Oakland seems unable to get runs on the board when Kazmir is on the mound, and that could spell disaster given how good Gonzalez has looked in his two starts. I see a comfortable win for Texas in this one.
