Kansas City at Detroit
When: Thursday, June 28th, 1:10 PM ET Where: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan TV: FSKC (Kansas City) / FS-D (Detroit) Radio: KCSP 610 (Kansas City) / 97.1 The Ticket (Detroit) Stream: MLB.tv MLB Betting Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Jake Junis (2-1, 4.97 ERA) (KC) vs Michael Fulmer (6-6, 3.29 ERA) (DET) The Kansas City Royals (37-38) have played themselves back into the conversation in the American League Central — although Detroit (34-42) would love to pull the Royals back down into the division’s basement. Despite those six losses, Michael Fulmer has a solid ERA for the Tigers, as poor run support has played a big factor in several of his losses. His last time out, he overpowered the San Diego Padres, fanning eight batters and holding San Diego to one run on two hits, lighting up 99 on the radar gun with his fastball. If he can bring that same execution home against Kansas City, that rejuvenated Royals offense could be on ice. Jake Junis starts for the Royals. He went 6 ⅓ innings his last time out, permitting a pair of runs and taking a no-decision. His biggest issue has been control, as he has issued too many walks – – and hit four batters combined in his last two starts. None of the Detroit starters have ever faced Junis, but if he can’t find the plate, the Tigers will make him pay. I see Fulmer winning this duel and leading the Tigers to a win.Oakland at Houston
When: Thursday, June 28th, 2:10 PM ET Where: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas TV: MLB Network / ROOTSW (Houston) Radio: 95.7 FM The Game (Oakland) / KBME 790 (Houston) Stream: MLB.tv MLB Betting Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Jharel Cotton (5-7, 5.02 ERA) (OAK) vs Brad Peacock (4-1, 2.82 ERA) (HOU) Oakland sends Jharel Cotton to the mound, and that record and ERA might be somewhat misleading, at least at this point in the season. His last start out saw him go 5+ scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox, permitting just three hits, but he had to leave the game with a blister on his right thumb. These things have a way of popping again without some time off, but Cotton didn’t miss a start, so this could be a concern. The Astros start Brad Peacock, who missed his start on Sunday due to the arrival of a new child. He has started six games after starting the season in the bullpen, posting a 2-1 record and a 2.81 ERA in those outings. He is also averaging almost 14 strikeouts per nine innings in the rotation. I like Peacock’s consistency — and I’m worried about Cotton’s durability — so I’m going with Houston here.L.A. Dodgers at L.A. Angels
When: Thursday, June 28th, 10:07 PM ET Where: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, California TV: MLB Network / SportsNet LA (Dodgers) / FS-W (Angels) Radio: 570 LA Sports (Dodgers) / KWKW 1330 (Angels) Stream: MLB.tv MLB Betting Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Clayton Kershaw (11-2, 2.47 ERA) (Dodgers) vs JC Ramirez (7-5, 4.38 ERA) (Angels) JC Ramirez did not pitch badly his last time out — he held the Boston Red Sox to a single run in six innings, striking out five batters in a 7-5 victory. However, he has the unenviable task of taking on Clayton Kershaw, who had a rough start two outings ago against the Mets (who hit four home runs off him), but who bounced back nicely against a hot-hitting Colorado team, striking out eight Rockies over six innings, throwing 103 pitches in the victory. The Dodgers just saw a 10-game winning streak end against the Angels on Monday, but they won on Tuesday, 4- 0, to start a new streak, and I see Kershaw outdueling Ramirez in this one for a Dodger win.Latest MLB Betting Trends
