Toronto Blue Jays at Oakland A’s MLB Betting Odds Pick

On Saturday afternoon, the Oakland A’s host the Toronto Blue Jays in the second game of their weekend series after the All-Star break. The Blue Jays (51-40) are in a tie with Boston for second place in the American League East and closed out the first half with a 6-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. The A’s (38-51) are in fourth place in the American League West. Be sure to check out for more MLB betting lines by clicking here.

Quick Look at the Toronto Blue Jays at Oakland A’s MLB Betting Odds Analysis

When: Saturday, July 16, 2016, 4:05pm ET Where: O.co Coliseum, Oakland TV: TVA Sports, CSCA Radio: Toronto / Oakland Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: TBA (TOR) vs Sonny Gray (3-8, 5.16 ERA) (OAK)

Why should you bet on Toronto?

The Blue Jays appear to have finally found their stride after starting the season in a real funk. Over the past three weeks, they have moved out of a morass around .500 to threaten Boston and Baltimore for the division lead. The key has been the resurgence of Josh Donaldson’s bat, which had been iffy for the first third of the season, and the improvement of the performance of the Toronto bullpen. The Blue Jays have a dangerous offense when they are clicking — even more dangerous than Boston’s league-leading production.

Why should you put your money on the Athletics?

Stephen Vogt finished the first half on a tear, knocking out three base hits, including a home run, in the Oakland win over Houston on the Saturday before the break. There’s also the fact that Sonny Gray, normally one of the best starters in the American League but having a dreadful first half this year, has pitched much better since the middle of May. His ERA has gone down by more than a run, and four of his last six starts have been quality starts. The poor Oakland offense has kept him from winning more, with their paltry run support, but if others can follow Vogt’s lead that could change as well.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Gray to use the rest of the break to keep the Blue Jay offense in check. With Toronto likely relying on a spot starter, I think the A’s will get some fat pitches to hit. I’m predicting a 5-2 Oakland win.
