Updated MLB Odds to Win the World Series

Updated MLB Odds to Win the World Series

Now that the Los Angeles Dodgers have caught the San Francisco Giants in the National League West, it will be interesting to see if the Giants have the stamina to stay with the Dodgers or at least in playoff contention, or if they will start to wilt in the summer heat. The Dodgers and the San Diego Padres have had better sports betting odds to win the World Series than the Giants all season long, so if the Giants can hold on in this marathon, their bettors will be handsomely rewarded. Another team that is way down the odds list is te Boston Red Sox, but the Sox have won nine of their last ten, while the favorites in their division, the New York Yankees, sit in fourth – and in chaos.

Let’s look at the latest MLB odds for each team.

MLB News: Updated Odds to Win the World Series

Team Odds
Los Angeles Dodgers               +375
Houston Astros      +600
Chicago White Sox                   +750
San Diego Padres  +800
New York Mets      +850
Tampa Bay Rays   +1200
New York Yankees, Oakland A’s      +1500
Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants    +1600
Toronto Blue Jays +2500
Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs +3500
Cincinnati Reds                         +5000
Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals +6600
Minnesota Twins    +15000
Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Seattle Mariners +20000
Baltimore Orioles   +50000
Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers             +100000

In the rivalry between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers, a key factor will be their record against one another. The Dodgers have won six of the first nine meetings, although five of those wins have been by no more than tree runs. They play seven more times before August 1, and if the Giants want to take back their lead, they will have to go through their longtime rivals. The Dodgers are enjoying the resurgence of closer Kenley Jansen; he has a 1.38 ERA and has posted 20 saves in 22 chances, thanks to a slider to complement his cutter.

The San Diego Padres are failing to keep pace with the Dodgers and the Giants thanks in part to the forearm woes of Dinelson Lamet, who has been shut down again. However, Drew Pomeranz returns to the bullpen after missing seven weeks due to a shoulder impingement. The bullpen has had to play a lot of innings, so they need a fresh Pomeranz. Lefty Ryan Weathers has filled in well in the rotation but appears to be showing signs of wear.

The Boston Red Sox is 6-0 against the Yankees this season. Garrett Richards had a terrific start to 2021 in the rotation but has fallen off a bit, so the team would love to see Chris Sale back at full strength. The likes of Josh Taylor, Garrett Whitlock, Adam Ottavino and Hirokazu Sawamura in the bullpen have been tremendous, and closer Matt Barnes has been ironclad.

The Chicago White Sox are looking for some replacements for injured players, and the Palehose may be going after Arizona infielder Eduardo Escobar. He is a terrific defender, but he does not have a particularly impressive bat, as he has low contract metrics. He can deliver power, but he needs more patience. The White Sox could also use a hitter who is better at simply getting on base than knocking in runs at this point.

The Oakland A’s are flagging a bit in the West but still could factor in the wild card standings down the stretch. The team lost leadoff batter Mark Canha with a left hip strain to the injured list, which means that the A’s have fewer choices on both offense and defense in the outfield – and need a dynamic bat in the top spot now.

The Cleveland Indians called up Harold Ramirez, and he has hit for both power and average while playing all three spots in the outfield. They also called up Bobby Bradley, and in his first three weeks at first base, he has a solid .889 OPS. Josh Naylor went down with an awful leg injury in right field, and the team needs a big bat in his stead.

ONE Championship, formerly branded as ONE FC or ONE Fighting Championship, is a MMA promotion based in Singapore. It is the largest MMA promotion in Asia and dates back to its first event, on September 3, 2011. On Sunday, April 7, Singapore Indoor Stadium will host ONE on TNT 1, which is the promotional debut on the American television network TNT. The headliner is a fight for the ONE Flyweight Championship, as Adriano Moraes will defend his belt against Demetrious Johnson. In the co-main event, Iuri Lapicus and Eddie Alvarez will tangle in a lightweight fight.

We have the full fight card, along with some One Championship betting thoughts on the key fights.

ONE on TNT 1 Preview

Main Card
Adriano Moraes vs Demetrious Johnson (ONE Flyweight Championship)
Iuri Lapicus vs Eddie Alvarez (Lightweight)
Rodtang Jitmuangnon vs Danial Williams (Flyweight — Muay Thai)

Preliminary Card
Tyler McGuire vs Raimond Magomedaliev (Welterweight)
Enriko Kehl vs Chingiz Allazov (Featherweight — Kickboxing)
Patrick Schmid vs Oumar Kane (Heavyweight)

Adriano Moraes vs Demetrious Johnson gives us Moraes in his third reign as champion of the ONE flyweight division. He won the title most recently at ONE: Hero’s Ascent back in January 2019, where he took down Geje Eustaquio unanimously on the cards. Johnson has won three in a row, taking down Yuya Wakamatsu, Tatsumitsu Wada and Danny Kingad, winning the ONE Flyweight Grand Prix and earning a shot at the belt.

Moraes first won the belt in 2014, beating Eustaquio. He defended the title one before losing to Kairat Akhmetov. He won a rematch to gain the belt back, but then he lost it again to Eustaquio. In a trilogy fight, he got the belt back from Eustaquio again. Johnson lost to Dominick Cruz in a challenge for the UFC Bantamweight belt, and then he moved town to flyweight. He defeated Ian McCall and Joseph Benavidez before becoming the promotion’s first flyweight champ. He held that belt for just about six years, defending his belt 11 straight times ( UFC record for total and consecutive defenses), but he would lose it to Henry Cejudo. Johnson went to ONE Championship in exchange for Ben Askren and then won the Grand Prix.

Johnson has the greater experience and reputation, but Moraes has the physical edge — and Moraes is three years younger. This should be a fight that goes to the mat quickly as both are excellent wrestlers. Moraes may have a slight edge in terms of skills here, but Johnson has shown that he can make adaptations when needed. If the fight somehow stays upright, Johnson is the better striker. I see Moraes making some inroads before Johnson prevails.

Final Prediction:
Johnson wins via decision

Iuri Lapicus vs Eddie Alvarez is Alvarez’s first shot at redemption since losing at the ONE Lightweight GRand Prix. Timofey Nastyukhin delivered the upset via first-round TKO. Alvarez got to go back into the tournament after Nastyukhin and Lownen Tynanes went down to injury, taking down Eduard Folayang in the reconstructed semifinal. However, he had to withdraw due to injury before the final. So since leaving UFC, Alvarez has had a run of bad outcomes.

Lapicus debuted in ONE Championship in May 2019, beating Shannon Wiratchai in the third round via submission. He then submitted Marat Gafurov in just over a minute. That got him a title bout against Christian Lee, but he was stopped quickly in his quest for that lightweight belt at ONE: Inside the Matrix. Lapicus will use speed and pressure to try and outwork Alvarez, but Alvarez has the veteran savvy to hold him off, at least for a time. Look for Lapicus to leverage leg kicks, as those tend to wear Alvarez down. Alvarez would have the edge if the fight goes to the ground, where he could push the fight to the cards.

Final Prediction:
Alvarez wins via decision
