Washington at Philadelphia MLB Runline Betting Preview

On Wednesday evening, the Philadelphia Phillies host the Washington Nationals in the third game of their midweek series. The Phillies (26-25) dropped the series opener on Monday, 4-3, and have lost eight of ten overall to lose some steam after a terrific start to the season — which included a three-game sweep of these Nationals down in DC. Washington (31-21) is atop the National League East standings, now 4 ½ games ahead of the struggling Phillies. Be sure to check for more MLB lines by clicking here.

When: Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 7:05 PM Eastern time Where: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia TV: MASN2, CSN RadioWashington / Philadelphia Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Max Scherzer (5-4, 4.05 ERA) (WAS) vs Adam Morgan (1-3, 6.67 ERA) (PHL)

Why should you bet on Washington?

The Nationals send Max Scherzer to the mound. He does have a 20-strikeout game to his credit this year, but his season has been very uneven to this point. However, he has always pitched well against Philadelphia, going 5-1 with a 2.38 career ERA in eight starts. Scherzer came to the Nats before the 2015 season and since then has gone 4-0 with a 1.88 ERA against the Phillies. The Nationals also get to hit against Phillies’ starter Adam Morgan, who has lost three in a row and got shelled for three home runs in a loss to the Cubs in his last start.

Why should you put your money on the Phillies?

Despite the fact that Morgan delivered BP-quality stuff against the Cubs last time out, Ben Revere is the only National who has ever gotten a hit off Morgan, and Daniel Murphy is the only other Nat who has even faced Morgan. Getting to see a team for the first time often favors the pitcher. While the Phillies did run into a buzzsaw over the weekend, getting swept by the Cubs, Odubel Herrera and Peter Bourjos have been hitting well lately, as they both slammed homers in the Phillies’ win on Thursday night in Detroit.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

Even an inconsistent Max Scherzer is likely to have better stuff than Adam Morgan, and the Nationals’ offense has been clicking lately. I’m predicting a 7-4 Washington win.
