In his last two starts, Crawford hasn’t lasted very long, throwing just eight combined innings against the Royals and Tigers – not long enough to qualify for the win in either outing. On Sunday, the Tigers got a pair of runs on three hits against Crawford, over 4 ⅔ innings, so the Yankees should have plenty of shots at the Boston bullpen on Saturday.

The Yankees might be in last place, but Gerrit Cole continues to pitch like an ace. In his last start, on Sunday, he held the Marlins to a pair of runs on six hits over six innings, but the bullpen collapsed in an 8-7 loss, wasting Cole’s six-strikeout performance. Given the number of opportunities that the Yankees should have at the plate against the Boston bullpen, I see Cole keeping the game in control for six or seven innings. Yankees to win.

He got a tough no-decision on Sunday in San Francisco, allowing a single run over seven innings, striking out 12 without issuing a walk, only to see the offense cool off and the bullpen surrender a 3-2 loss in ten innings. Dunning has been a pleasant surprise for Texas this year. Rangers to win.

The Phillies are in wild-card position as of this writing, but the offense needs to pick up for the team to make it back to the postseason.

Trevor Williams has a large 11.00 ERA over two August starts, and he has allowed four our more earned runs in four straight starts dating back to July 25. He hasn’t made it through five innings in a start since July 25. The Phillies just saw him on August 8, when they got to him for six runs on eight hits, including three home runs, in an 8-4 Philadelphia win. Phillies to win.
