Logan Allen got blasted by Toronto his last time out, giving up five runs on six hits, including a home run, striking out two and walking one over four innings in an 8-3 loss. Before that, though, his August numbers had been solid: 23 IP (4 starts), 4 ER, 16 H, 20 K, 12 BB. The team only scored one run combined in losses to Toronto and Detroit, but his pitching was solid. On Monday, he blanked the Cardinals over seven innings, scattering two hits and five walks while striking out nine in a 4-1 Padres win. If the rest of the staff pitches like Snell, this is a team that can still catch fire – but it has to do it in a hurry. Padres to win.
