Winning MLB Parlay Picks for the Weekend Action

Getting ready to start your MLB betting up again after the All-Star break? We’ve picked out the top MLB parlay picks to bet on this Saturday and Sunday. There are some high- flying teams that look to lock up their division races before Labor Day (hello, Washington, Houston and the L.A. Dodgers) and some other teams that should be contending but need to make a real move if they even want a part of the wild card conversation (yes, Cubs and Rangers, we’re talking to you). As you look at the matchups for this weekend, take a look at these two parlay offerings that we have researched for you.

Winning MLB Parlay Picks for the Weekend Action

Saturday Game #1

Minnesota Twins at Houston Astros

When: Sunday, July 16th. 1:10pm CT. Where: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas TV: FSNO (Minnesota) / ROOTSW (Houston) Radio: Go 96.3 (Minnesota) / KBME 790 (Houston) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Betting Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Ervin Santana (10-6, 2.99 ERA) (MIN) vs Joe Musgrove (4-7, 6.04 ERA) (HOU) The Houston Astros drew a lot of ink for making it to 60 wins before the All-Star break, a true sign of a dominant first half. However, they send Joe Musgrove to the hill on Saturday night. He has made 15 starts this season, but when Collin McHugh returns to the rotation, Musgrove’s performance almost has to mean that he is on his way to the bullpen. In his last three combined starts, he has only managed to complete 15 innings, permitting six home runs and 18 runs overall.

Who Will Start on the Mound for Minnesota?

Opposing Musgrove is Ervin Santana, who threw his fourth complete game of the season in his last start before the All-Star break. That number leads MLB, but the Twins simply couldn’t muster the run support to get more than the two runs that Santana permitted. I don’t see the Twins having any problems scoring on Musgrove, though, so I like Minnesota to win this one.

Saturday Game #2

Texas Rangers at Kansas City Royals

When: Saturday, July 15th. 7:15pm ET Where: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City TV: FS1 Radio: KFLC 1270 (Texas) / KCSP 610 (Kansas City) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Cole Hamels (4-0, 3.51 ERA) (TEX) vs Jason Vargas (12-3, 2.62 ERA) (KC) The Royals got All-Star numbers out of Jason Vargas during the first half of the season. He did have a rough outing in his last start before the break, all the way back on July 5, when he permitted three home runs and six earned runs over five innings against Seattle in a game that the Royals’ bats would win, 9-6. In his four starts prior to that one, though, he threw 27 combined innings, permitting just seven earned runs over that time frame.

Who Will Be Sent Out for the Royals?

Against Vargas comes Cole Hamels, who pitched well in his last two starts before the break. He has spent much of the season on the disabled list, but over those last two starts he permitted just two runs over 14 ⅔ innings. He saw Kansas City back on April 21 and limited them to a single run over eight innings. In four starts against Kansas City, Hamels has a lifetime 3-1 record and a 3.67 ERA. Given the track records of the two pitchers for the season, though — and the Texas bullpen’s penchant for giving away games late — I’m betting on Kansas City in this one.

Sunday Game #1

Colorado Rockies at N.Y. Mets

When: Sunday, July 16th. 1:10pm ET Where: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City TV: FS1 Radio: KFLC 1270 (Colorad0) / KCSP 610 (NY) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Jeff Hoffman (5-1, 4.15 ERA) (COL) vs Steven Matz (2-2, 3.05 ERA) (NY) Jeff Hoffman has a solid streak going; in his last three starts, he has posted a 1-0 record with a 3.92 ERA. He has made a couple of mistake pitches that opposing hitters have sent a long way, but he has managed to limit the damage (and get some support from those Colorado bats). Speaking of the Rockies’ offense, Charlie Blackmon has a .750 lifetime batting average against Mets starter Steven Matz, and D.J. LeMahieu has a .500 mark.

What about Matz?

He’s been injured for most of the season, but he did manage to build a 17-inning scoreless streak until his last start before the All-Star break, when St. Louis smacked him around for five runs over 4 ⅓ innings on Sunday. The Mets have never faced Hoffman — which should give him an edge. I’m taking Colorado to win this matinee. Are the Rockies safe to place in your MLB parlay bets?

Sunday Game #2

Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers

When: Sunday, July 16th. 2:10pm ET Where: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City TV: FS1 Radio: KFLC 1270 (Philadelphia) / KCSP 610 (Milwaukee) Live Stream: MLB.tv MLB Odds: TBA Pitching Matchup: Jeremy Hellickson (5-5, 4.49 ERA) (PHI) vs Matt Garza (4-4, 3.98 ERA) (MIL) Jeremy Hellickson has posted a 3.20 ERA over his last four starts. That hasn’t helped his record much, mostly because of that paltry Philadelphia offense, but he is throwing the ball well. The Brewers’ Jonathan Villar (3-3 lifetime against Hellickson, 1 HR, 2 RBI) appears to have Hellickson timed well, but none of the Brewers have faced Hellickson more than eight times.

Who Will Go Up Against Villar?

Opposing Hellickson is Matt Garza, who scattered five hits over 6 ⅓ innings, holding the Orioles scoreless back on July 5. It was his longest start since May 6 and showed that he may be moving into a sharp streak right now. I like the Brewer bats to get to Hellickson and lead Milwaukee to a win.

Final MLB Parlay Prediction
