Why should you bet on the Astros?
Since Justin Verlander came to Houston, he has made 10 total appearances (nine of them starts). He has posted a 9-0 record and a combined 1.53 ERA over that span. In Game Two of the World Series, he did permit three runs on a pair of home runs over six innings, but the Astros completed a comeback to take that game. It’s unlikely that Verlander would be that hittable in consecutive starts — although it’s true that expecting dominant pitching to carry the day has gone out the window in this World Series. On offense, the Astros have proven to be just about unstoppable. Against Hill, Jose Altuve and Carlos Beltran have taken Rich Hill deep, and Cameron Maybin, Brian McCann and Josh Reddick have all posted career averages of .400 or higher against him. Altuve, Carlos Correa and Yuli Gurriel — arguably the hottest hitters in the Houston lineup right now — are all right-handed, while Hill is a lefty. So the Astros should get plenty of hittable pitches on Tuesday night. Why should you put your money on the Dodgers?
Rich Hill pitched well enough to win in GAme Two, permitting just a single run on three hits, fanning seven (while also walking three). His postseason ERA is 2.77 overall, with four earned runs permitted over 13 innings. He has fanned 19 batters over that stretch. After six innings in Game Two, the Dodgers had a 3-1 lead thanks in large part ot Hill’s masterful work on the hill. Unfortunately, the bullpen would unravel in the late innings, leading to that wild Houston victory. A lot of people talk about those hot Astro bats, but the Dodgers have hit just as well. Even so, Verlander was able to dominate the Dodger lineup over large stretches in Game Two. It was just the combination of a two-out walk and a Joc Pederson home run that gave the Dodgers their short-lived lead in that matchup. If you like the Dodgers, then you think that losing the DH will tame the Houston lineup again, and that Hill will be able to pitch another dominant outing. You also think that the Dodger bats will be able to get big hits against Verlander again.Betting Trends
