The NBA Finals are here and, big shock, it is a rematch of last season’s finals. Hate to say all the so-called “experts” were right with, pretty much, all of them picking a rematch and they called it. However, what is tougher to call will be who will win the NBA Finals MVP. Here is the look at the players with the best basketball betting odds to win the NBA Finals MVP.
In Depth Analysis On The 2017 NBA Finals MVP Odds & Betting Predictions
We have Stephen Curry with the best odds to win the NBA Finals MVP and that is not a stretch. I mean, he is the leader of the Warriors, who have won 12 in a row to get back to their 3rd finals appearance. He has shot over 50% from the floor in his last five games and in that stretch he has averaged 31.2 ppg. Not bad at all. He is the sparkplug for the Warriors, who are firing on all cylinders and begin the finals series at home.
Curry’s teammate Kevin Durant has the 2nd best odds to win the award and if he wins it that will likely mean he will pick up his first NBA title. He has come back, gangbusters, from his injury and in the last six playoff games Durant has shot over 50% from the floor every time and has averaged 28 ppg. However, will King James be guarding him? Big question.
Speaking of King James the 2016 NBA Finals MVP LeBron James only has the 3rd best odds to win the award. James has been lights out in the playoffs, but he did have a clunker in the Game 3 loss to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals and in the Game 4 win he played 2nd fiddle to Kyrie Irving. Still, can you count the King out after last season’s epic performance in the finals leading the Cavs back from a 3-1 deficit against the Warriors?
Draymond Green only scored more than 20 points once in the 12-game Golden State run to the finals and also had double-digits in rebounds only twice. However, even with the 4th best odds he is a good choice, but has to do one thing: shut down James. If Green keeps King James in check it may be hard not to give him the award no matter how the other Warriors play.
Kyrie Irving has been solid in the playoffs and for him to win the Finals MVP he may have to play like he did in the Game 4 win in in the conference finals against the Celtics. In that game he went for 42 points on 15/22 shooting and he was 4/7 beyond the 3-pt arc. However, he knows this is James’ team and will he get the big shot when it matters? You know James will be that guy, but if Irving can show he can come through in the clutch he may have a shot.
Kevin Love is a long shot and while a member of the new Big 3 in Cleveland he is the 3rd option for the squad. He has played well for the playoffs, for the most part, but he also had three games where he failed to score in double-digits. Unlike James and Irving Love is not great at finding his own shot and it is unlikely that he will take over games like James and Irving have done so far in the post-season.
