Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – February 25th

Written by on February 25, 2019

Indiana and Toronto have won eight of ten, but they still lost a game in the standings to Milwaukee, winners of four in a row and nine of their last ten. At the bottom of the East standings, the New York Knicks ended an 18-game skid at home with a win over the San Antonio Spurs. In the Western Conference, Golden State lost at home to Houston but still leads Denver by a game, but it looks like reality is setting in for Dallas (losers of four in a row), Memphis (also four in a row) and that tanking is the new reality in Phoenix (losers of 17 straight). We have three primo NBA betting picks from the NBA for you to look at for the coming week.

Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – February 25th

Monday, February 25

Philadelphia at New Orleans (8:00pm ET, NBA TV)

Philadelphia has won two of three but took a 130-115 home loss against Portland on Saturday, as Jusuf Nurkic and Enes Kanter feasted in the lane without the 76ers’ Joel Embiid there to counter them. Embiid is expected to miss no less than a week thanks to a sore knee, so despite 29 points and 10 assists from Ben Simmons and 20 points from Tobias Harris, Philadelphia had nothing inside. It also didn’t help that J.J. Redick went just 1 for 10. The Trail Blazers won the rebounding battle 53-33 and pulled down 19 offensive boards. Now the Sixers head to New Orleans, another team that has a dominant big man in Anthony Davis. The Pelicans had dropped three of four before knocking off the Lakers, 128-115, on Saturday — a game in which big man Anthony Davis didn’t even take the floor for New Orleans. Jrue Holiday hit five three-balls and scored 27 points overall, and Julius Randle added 24. The Pelicans shot 52.1 percent from the floor on the night, including 15 for 40 from downtown. I would expect Davis to return on Monday, and to have his way inside as Philadelphia is not expected to play Embiid. NBA Betting Prediction: New Orleans 118, Philadelphia 109

Tuesday, February 26

Boston at Toronto (8:00pm ET, TNT)

Boston has lost two in a row and four of six, following up a 98-97 loss in Milwaukee with a ten-point loss in Chicago on Saturday, as Chicago got 42 from Zach LaVine and 35 from Lauri Markkanen, the first time two Bulls had scored at least 35 points in the same game since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen did it in 1996. Kyrie Irving was back with a vengeance for Boston, scoring 37 points and dishing out 10 assists, and Al Horford scored 19, but the Celtics lacked energy on defense. Now they head to Toronto, who just had a seven-game winning streak ended by the Orlando Magic in a 113-98 setback on Sunday. Kyle Lowry scored 19 points and gave out 10 assists, and Pascal Siakam had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards, but Kawhi Leonard was held out for rest after Friday’s home win over the Spurs. He is expected to return for the matchup with Boston. Given the lack of consistency the Celtics have shown lately, I expect Toronto to start another winning streak. NBA Betting Prediction: Toronto 111, Boston 101

Oklahoma City at Denver (10:30pm ET, TNT)

Oklahoma City has dropped two of three since a promising four-game winning streak, losing to New Orleans and Sacramento with a 148-147 win over Utah in between. In that loss to Sacramento on Saturday. Paul George was cold on the night, going just 4 for 19 and scoring just 14 points. Russell Westbrook had 41 points and 10 rebounds, marking three straight games with at least 40 points, the but the Thunder defense did not have an answer for Buddy Hield. Now the Thunder head to Denver to take on the second-place team in the West. The Nuggets have won four in a row, including a 123-96 rout of the Clippers on Sunday, as Nikola Jokic had 22 points and 16 rebounds, and Paul Millsap added 21 points and 16 rebounds. Mason Plumlee even got into the action, clanking in his second three-pointer of the season. Can the Thunder rebound against a hot Denver team? NBA Betting Prediction: Denver 129, Oklahoma City 124
