NBA Betting Pick on New Orleans at Washington

Written by on February 22, 2016

This Tuesday, the New Orleans Pelicans take flight for the nation’s capital when they take on the Washington Wizards. The Pelicans (22-33) are in fifth place in the Southwest Division and are coming off a 111-106 win in Detroit on Sunday night. The Wizards (25-29) are in fourth place in the Southeast Division and were on the short end of a 114-94 loss in Miami on Saturday night. NBA Betting Pick on New Orleans at Washington

Why Should You Bet on the Pelicans?

It looks like Anthony Davis is finally ready to become the superstar that the Pelicans saw in him when they inked him to that max extension. Against the Pistons, he put up 59 of his team’s 111 points and pulled down 20 rebounds, breaking the team’s record for points (50, Jamal Mashburn). It’s not like he had a soft center opposing him, either, as Andre Drummond for the Pistons is one of the top big men in the Eastern Conference. Davis also broke the arena record (48, LeBron James). Davis is now the third player ever to score 55 or more points and pull down at least 20 boards in a game. The other two? Wilt Chamberlain and Shaquille O’Neal. As New Orleans continues to develop, they will be a threat to more and more teams who lack a solid threat inside – and Washington is one of those teams.

Why Should You Put Your Money on Washington?

wizards-vs-pelicans-basketball-preview Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh didn’t even play — and the Wizards still lost by 20 in Miami. That’s more a sign of how deep the Heat are than how bad the Wizards are, but Washington still has a lot of work to do. To be fair, Washington was playing on the third straight night and just didn’t have the legs to stay with the Heat. Three consecutive games generally don’t happen, but the Wizards had rescheduled a game with Utah for Thursday after a snowstorm forced its postponement. They will be more rested when the Pelicans come to town, and John Wall will be able to wreak havoc on a Pelican defense that is not particularly stout.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Pelicans to continue their momentum and take it to the Wizards. I don’t think Davis will have another 50-point night, but he will be able to impose his will inside as the Pelicans win, 106.
