At 12-8, the Hawks are not having an awful year, yet they find themselves down in 6th place in what has been a surprisingly good Eastern Conference so far. There are some who are suggesting that the loss of DeAndre Carroll hurt more than was expected, and he will have the opportunity to rub a little salt in the wounds when he arrives as part of the Raptors line-up. The Hawks have had a pretty tough schedule of late, and have struggled after reeling off 7-straight wins in the early part of the season. The wins that they have picked up of late have been of the impressive variety, with perhaps none as eye-opening as the 106-100 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. The Hawks have been tough to beat at home this season, and come into this one with a 7-3 record on home court.
The Toronto Raptors (11-7) have been forced to play the majority of their games on the road to start the year, and have to be somewhat pleased to be 1 a couple of games over .500 in those starts. They will be disappointed with how they have played on home court so far, though, with a 107-102 loss to Phoenix the outcome of their last home game. They have a 6-game home stand coming up after the trip to Atlanta, and a win heading back would be the perfect way to get things started. Toronto was one of the few teams who had real success over the Hawks last season, with the team from north of the border taking 3 of the 4 meetings. Toronto won both of the games in Atlanta last year, and were very convincing in doing so. Not so sure they will be able to win as comfortably this time around.
