When the Spurs appear to be struggling as a group, it seems like there is always another player who steps forward to lead the team out of difficulty. On Wednesday, that was Kawhi Leonard, as the Spurs followed up a shocking loss in Charlotte with a rout of the Heat, paced by Leonard’s 32 points. He pushed his game to another gear, slashing to the basket and dominating the boards on both ends of the floor. I would check the injury report after the Grizzlies game, but if the Spurs can stay healthy and then play solid defense in Oklahoma City, they have a chance.

The Thunder score points as well as anyone in the league — Golden State, Boston and Cleveland — but their central weakness is on defense, where they tend to go through some glaring lapses. They had none of those lapses against the Jazz, though, and they should have all of their attention focused on the visiting Spurs on Saturday night. Russell Westbrook saw his triple-double streak end at 3 against the Jazz, but that was only because he rested during the fourth quarter.
