Toronto at Cleveland ECF NBA Playoffs Odds Game 4

Written by on May 23, 2016

On Monday night, the Toronto Raptors host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference final. The Cavaliers looked like they were cruising to another sweep, after providing a pair of routs in Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland. Then the Raptors decided to play more solid defense (and the Cavaliers did not shoot as well), and Toronto emerged from Game 3 with a 99-84 win. Why should you bet on Cleveland?

The Cavaliers recognized that they did not play with their usual physicality in Game 3. That’s how Bismarck Biyombo swatted four shots and the Cavaliers were more tentative in their play, particularly against the Raptors on the perimeter. Kevin Love had a ragged night, shooting 1 for 9 and tallying just 3 points. Kyrie Irving went 3 for 19, leaving the game with an injury with 1:38 remaining in the fourth period, and he remains day to day for tonight’s game. If those shooting performances improve, the Cavs’ chances will be a lot better in Game 4.

Why should you put your money on the Raptors?

The Cavaliers are vulnerable on the inside, and teams that can defend on the perimeter and box out have an advantage against them. There aren’t many teams that do both well, though, which is why the Cavs have glided through these playoffs so easily. They have three elite scorers, which means they can outrun most offenses. However, when teams play like the Raptors do (Bismack Biyombo pulled down 26 boards and DeMar DeRozan tallied 32 points while Kyle Lowry added 20) they can beat Cleveland. Toronto has won seven of nine playoff games at home, and now that they have found a way around the Cavaliers, after five combined losses this season, they should have the confidence to do it again.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Raptors to play with even more confidence in Game 4 with that win under their belt. I do think the Cavs will shoot better, though, so I’m predicting a 105-100 Toronto victory.
