Updated NBA Championship Odds – October 11th

Written by on October 10, 2017

The 2017-18 NBA regular season is about to begin (October 18), which means that it’s time to start thinking about each team NBA Championship Odds, one of the more popular futures propositions for pro basketball wagers. We just saw the Golden State Warriors take down the Cleveland Cavaliers in last season’s Finals, and while the Warriors have mostly decided to stand pat with their roster, Cleveland pulled the trigger on a blockbuster trade that basically swapped point guards for the two teams, sending Kyrie Irving to Boston and receiving Isaiah Thomas (and his creaky hip) in return. Let’s look at some of the updated NBA Championship Odds for each of the 30 NBA franchises to take home the title next June.

Updated NBA Championship Odds – October 11th

NBA – FINALS POSSIBLE MATCHUPS ODDS

Golden State Warriors

NBA Championship Odds: 5-11 Despite the fact that the Western Conference has gotten even more difficult, ESPN predicted that the Warriors would still win 62 games this coming season – 7 ahead of Houston, who they have finished second. Andre Iguodala and David West have gotten a year older, coming off the bench, but that lineup featuring Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and the rest of the gang are going to be hard for anyone to catch.

Cleveland Cavaliers

NBA Championship Odds: 4-1 Until someone stops the Cavaliers, they will be the favorites out of the East. It will be interesting to see if the Cavaliers miss the hot shooting of Kyrie Irving. As great a playmaker as Isaiah Thomas, was he a better fit than Kyrie? Or was the lack of chemistry between Kyrie and LeBron going to turn into a team problem? Hard to say at this point, but don’t forget the Cavs also recruited Derrick Rose and Dwayne Wade.

San Antonio Spurs

NBA Championship Odds: 8-1 The emergence of Kawhi Leonard and the agelessness of much of the Spurs’ lineup mean that you always have to keep an eye out for them in the West.

Boston Celtics

NBA Championship Odds: 10-1 Same question that we asked for Cleveland – is the point guard swap going to work out? Does bringing in Gordon Hayward make the Celtics good enough to pass Cleveland?

Houston Rockets

NBA Championship Odds: 25-1 The Rockets had a playmaker point guard in James Harden…so they brought in another with Chris Paul. Will the team take off, or will they really make no progress?

Oklahoma City Thunder

NBA Championship Odds: 25-1 With Carmelo Anthony and Paul George in town, Russell Westbrook has another superteam. Can the Thunder make noise in the West again? Carmelo Anthony and Paul George improve the Thunder NBA Championship Odds.

Washington Wizards, Minnesota Timberwolves

NBA Championship Odds: 40-1 Two teams with young and still unproven talent. Can John Wall and Bradley Beal finally make a statement in the East? What will the Timberwolves be able to do now that they have Jimmy Butler alongside Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins?

Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers

NBA Championship Odds: 60-1 Can Joel Embiid stay healthy for the Sixers? Giannis Antetokounmpo was the Bucks’ first All-Star starter since Sidney Moncrief. Where can he lead the Bucks?

Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat

NBA Championship Odds: 80-1 Now we’re getting near the bottom of the playoff bracket in the East. Can the Raptors turn things around and contend? Will the Heat ever move on from the Wade-James-Bosh era?

Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets

NBA Championship Odds: 100-1 How far will the Clippers go without Chris Paul? Will DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis meld in New Orleans? Can Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum put things together in Portland? What will Emmanuel Mudiay turn into for the Nuggets?

Long Shots

  • Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies (200-1)
  • Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte Hornets (300-1)
  • Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings (500-1)
  • Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic (1000-1)
