Warriors Head to Thursday Game as a Heavy NBA Betting Favorite

Written by on May 21, 2015

If the remainder of the Western Conference Final series between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets is as competitive as Game 1 was, NBA betting fans are in for a treat. The Warriors came away with a 110-106 win, and they will be looking to take a 2-0 series stranglehold when they play at home again on Thursday night. While some were expecting a blowout in favor of Golden State, the game was tied 97-97 in the fourth quarter. The Warriors broke the game open and pulled away by going on an 11-0 run that was essentially the nail in the coffin of the Rockets. Steph Curry chipped in with 7 of those points, taking his total for the game to 34. He has been particularly lethal from 3-point range in the last 2 games, going 14 of 24. Date/Time: Thursday, May 21st, 9:00 PM Location: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California TV: ESPN Spread: Golden State -10.5 Before this series began, there was a lot of talk about the match-up between Andrew Bogut and Dwight Howard, with many people feeling that success at the center position would go a long way towards determining which team would advance. Both men ended up being something of a non-factor in Game 1, with Bogut underwhelming and Howard trying to fight his way through a knee injury sustained in the first half. Steve Kerr assessed the situation and decided to insert Draymond Green into the lineup in an attempt to shake things up. To say that it worked is something of an understatement, as going smaller meant adding more speed to the Warriors game. All of a sudden, shots started dropping, turnovers were forced, and the Warriors took control of the game, especially in the fourth quarter when it really mattered. golden-state-warriors

HOUSTON ROCKETS
This is not to say that Golden State will be able to get the job done without Andrew Bogut, though, as this has the potential to be a long series, where everyone is going to have to plat their part. The difference in Game 2 could well be the health of Dwight Howard. The feeling is that he will try to make a go of it on Thursday night, but if he starts to struggle, expect the Warriors to go small ball again in an attempt to take full advantage of the injury. The Rockets are not really in a must win position just yet, but going home 0-2 against a team that they struggled against all season long presents a challenge that would be tough to overcome. Unfortunately for Houston, I believe that is the position that they are going to find themselves in come Friday morning.
