Going into last weekend’s play, the Suns still had a shot at the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, but everyone knew that in order to stay alive, they were going to have to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. They lost that one, and then followed it up with a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Those two defeats took the losing streak for the Suns to 4, and has made their chances of landing in the playoffs almost zero. What has to be disappointing for the franchise and the fans is that they really looked as though they were about to take a serious run at that 8th seed. They had ripped off 4 straight wins before sliding into this losing skid. Things don’t look as though they are going to get much better, as they now have to head to California to take on a Golden State team that is red hot.
The Warriors are now at 60-13, and have a 10 game win streak that is very much alive and well. They have proven themselves to be among the very best in the NBA this year, but they will still feel as though they have a few things to take care of before the regular season draws to a close. One of the things on their to do list will be to win their final 5 home games of the season, as that would tie them for the second best home record of all time at 39-2. That is a scary stat for anyone that has to go there and face them in the playoffs. One stat that really jumps off the page with this team, ad which could be the key to a championship season, is how they do when holding an opponent to less than 100 points. They are a staggering 40-0 when doing that, which is a sign that defense wins championships, although this team also has the ability to blow you out.
