Yankees and Orioles Clash in 3-Game MLB Betting Battle

Written by on April 13, 2015

The teams that are currently occupying the top spot in their respective decisions are well aware that they are unlikely to be there for the entirety of the season. At 162 games, the MLB Betting season is one that will result in a rollercoaster ride for every team. That said, the teams that are at the bottom of the standings after the first week are very often the ones that will stay there, as glaring weaknesses are brought to light.

The New York Yankees were pretty much picked by everyone to prop up the AL East, with a whole slew of issues brought as evidence against them. They have pretty much lived up to their pre-season billing in the first week of the season, with pitching, a lack of offensive power, and a shaky defense all being put on display.  Despite winning their last match against the Red Sox, they will be hoping to right the ship a little when they start a 3-game series versus the Orioles on Monday. Their best chance of success may well come on Tuesday when CC Sabathia takes the mound. It would be easy to look at his loss versus the Blue Jays as a sign of things to come, but you have to remember he is probably still a little rusty after coming off knee surgery. He had good control and also struck out 8 in just 5.2 innings.

The Baltimore Orioles are expected to be in the mix for the AL East crown, but there have to be some genuine concerns after getting shelled by the Blue Jays in their last series. The 2 losses they took in that series saw them give up 22 runs. The bright spot in that series was the pitching performance of Ubaldo Jimenez on Saturday, as he was as close to perfect as you can get. Baltimore will send Miguel Gonzalez to the mound on Tuesday, and will be hoping that he can deliver a similar performance to what he did in his first start. He did take the loss, but only gave up 3 hits and 1 run in his 5.2 innings. A similar performance and a little run support would be a perfect mix for the O’s.

This has all the makings of a low-scoring affair, as I expect Sabathia to be a little better in his second start back after injury. I think that Baltimore will find a way to get the win, though, especially if they can force the Yankees to start using the bullpen.
