Why should you bet on the Crimson Tide?

Alabama enters this game coming off the rest of a bye week after their 58-21 shellacking of Tennessee two weeks ago. Of course, given how many games in which the starters have basically rested for the second half, this is a team with much more gas in the tank than just about all of their competition at this point of the season anyway. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continues to wow observers with 2,066 yards of passing and 25 touchdown passes — again, in a season when he sits for much of the second half of games. The Tide score 54.1 points per game, so LSU had better be ready to play defense and do some scoring of their own. Alabama has covered the spread in 15 of their last 22 road games and in 13 of their last 19 road games against a team with a winning record at home. They have also covered in four of the last five meetings with LSU and in nine of their last 12 meetings in Baton Rouge. The fact that LSU also had their bye week last week somewhat negates any rest advantage that Alabama might have, but the simple fact is that LSU will have to push Burrow to go way out of his comfort zone — and succeed while doing it — to have a chance of covering, let alone winning.
