Auburn at Missouri College Football Betting Odds & Expert Pick

The Auburn Tigers open their SEC slate on Saturday night when they take on the Missouri Tigers up in Columbia. Auburn is the betting favorite over Missouri in Week 4. Auburn comes in off a beating at the hands at Clemson two weeks ago but handled FCS foe Mercer last week. Missouri took a whipping from Big Ten opponent Purdue last week. Let’s look at your college football betting prospects for this matchup as SEC West visits SEC East.

Why should you bet on Auburn? Jarrett Stidham showed the balance that the Auburn offense has when it is operating at its peak in the team’s win over Mercer. He went 32 for 37 for 367 yards — and found nine different receivers for his passes, and eight of those recipients caught at least three balls. The problem for the Auburn offense was ball security, as they turned the ball over five times (one pick and four fumbles lost). Auburn did win, 24-10, but that is a testament to their defense instead of anything that their offense was doing as far as dominating the game. While the Auburn defense did surrender a defeat to Clemson two weeks ago, they have the personnel to be a lockdown unit, as they showed by permitting only 14 points against the defending national champions. The Missouri offense does not have nearly the talent that the Clemson attack does, so Auburn should be able to hold Missouri. Mizzou did set a school and conference record for touchdowns in their opener, but since then they have taken a pair of beatings that indicate that they will be spending another year in the basement of the Southeastern Conference standings.

Why should you put your money on Missouri? Missouri has lost their last two games by a combined score of 66-16 — to South Carolina and then to Purdue. Against the Boilermakers, they gained only 203 yards of offense — 70 rushing and 133 passing. Quarterback Drew Lock went just 12 for 28 for 133 yards and a pair of picks, giving him five interceptions on the season. The SEC has not been kind to Missouri, as they enter this game as a home underdog in conference play for the 11th time over the last five-plus seasons. They have only won three of those ten games. If you like Missouri, then you think that Auburn will stumble over their own feet once again, turning the ball over too many times or simply making enough mistakes on offense to lead to punting situations. Is Missouri a safe college football betting pick in Week 4? Auburn sometimes has a difficult time maintaining focus on their offensive possessions. We saw this in their loss to Clemson, as they made a number of mistakes that limited them to just six points. Clemson sacked Jarrett Stidham 11 times in that game, so if Missouri can mount any sort of pass rush at all, then they should have a chance to stay close in this game. The problem is that they have not shown any signs of mounting that sort of rush against South Carolina or Purdue.

Expert College Football Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction I foresee a long day for the Missouri Tigers on their home field. They simply do not have the talent to stay with Auburn in this one, and I see Auburn taking out some of the frustrations that they built up during that loss to Clemson and continued to build up with those turnovers against Mercer, a game that should have been a cake walk. I predict a final score of Auburn 38, Missouri 9, as the Auburn defense locks down yet another opponent — and Auburn moves to 1-0 in SEC play. For Missouri, it marks the beginning of yet another long football season.
