College Football Game Odds: Boise State Broncos vs Oregon Ducks Matchup Analysis

College Football Game Odds | Boise State vs Oregon | Is Oregon really a worthy contender in the new and expanded Big Ten? If so, their offense still needs to do some work as they only beat FCS team Idaho, 24-14, in their home opener.

Dillon Gabriel made his starting debut at quarterback after transferring in from Oklahoma. Next up for the Ducks is a visit from the Boise State Broncos, who also beat a tomato can in their opener.

Offense wasn’t a problem for the Broncos, but the defense got lit up by Georgia Southern in a 56-45 Boise State win.

Ashton Jeanty ran for 267 yards and scored six touchdowns during the win. What will the Broncos be able to do against Oregon’s offense?

We will see. Check out our sports betting preview for this showdown.

Why should you bet on the Boise State Broncos?

Jeanty’s 267-yard day was beyond impressive, contributing to a 651-yard day for the Boise State offense.

Of those yards, 371 came on the ground, and the team averaged 9.9 yards per play.

However, they permitted 461 total yards of offense (322 through the air), and they allowed Georgia Southern to convert 12 of 19 third-down attempts.

If the Broncos can run the ball against Oregon like they did against Georgia Southern, they should be able to stay within this almost three-touchdown line.

It’s important to remember that Oregon can turn up the defense. In the Fiesta Bowl, for example, they bounced back from that loss to Washington in the Pac-12 Championship with a 45-6 shellacking of Liberty.

Another reason to consider Boise State here, though, is that Oregon only managed 24 points against an Idaho team not known for its defense.

It’s hard to see Boise State outscoring Oregon overall, but this spread seems large.

Why should you put your money on the Oregon Ducks?

Dillon Gabriel had a solid first performance with the Ducks. He went 41 of 49 for 380 yards with two scores.

Terrance Ferguson and Tez Johnson picked up 168 receiving yards combined, and Johnson had both of the touchdown catches.

Jordan James picked up 135 all-purpose yards in the win. Evan Stewart is still working his way into the wide receiver rotation.

Matayo UIagalelei dominated off the edge, picking up a pair of sacks. The defense limited Idaho to just 49 yards on the ground.

Ashton Jeanty had two 75-yards touchdowns all by himself for Boise State. While Oregon succeeded in containing the Idaho rushing defense, containing Jeanty will be an entirely different challenge.

In the off-season, Oregon lost Kyree Jackson from the defensive side of the ball, but such transfers as Jabbar Muhammad, Kobe Savage, Jamaree Caldwell, and Derrick Harmon will all take the field.

Boise State vs Oregon Final Score and Prediction

Going into Autzen Stadium might be an intimidating experience for a number of teams, but Boise State has had enough exposure on the big stage to take this environment in stride.

I see Oregon struggling to contain one of the best tailbacks in the nation, and while Dillon Gabriel should be able to lead the Ducks to a win, pulling off the sort of rout they would need to cover this spread seems unlikely.

I predict a final score of Oregon 48, Boise State 38.
