College Football Betting Lines & Prediction: UCLA at Stanford

Written by on September 20, 2017

UCLA and Stanford enter the Pac-12 portion of their schedules on Saturday night. Both teams come in on the heels of disappointing losses, so they are eager to win, but according to the College Football betting lines for Week 4 Stanford is the favorite. Last week, the UCLA offense put up 45 points at Memphis, but their defense simply had no answer for the Tigers’ offense, which scored 48 in the win. The Stanford loss was just as perplexing, as they headed down the Pacific Coast to San Diego State and took a surprising 20-17 loss. Both of these teams would like to contend for the Pac-12 title, and both have a great deal of talent – but they both have flaws that will make contending difficult-. Check out the NCAAF Odds, preview, and final score prediction.

Why should you consider UCLA College Football Betting Lines? Josh Rosen leads a terrific offense for UCLA. Against Memphis, he went 34 for 56 for 463 yards and four touchdowns. Unfortunately, he also threw two interceptions, and Tim Hart took one of those back to the house in the third period. But on the whole the offensive performance was solid. Darren Andrews led the UCLA wideouts with 10 receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown, giving him six for the season. His arm was what UCLA rode to that amazing 45-44 comeback win over Texas A&M in their season opener as well. The problem is that UCLA gives up 515 yards per game on defense. It doesn’t matter how many points you can put up if you can’t get any stops. While the Bruins did beat Hawaii by 33 points, when they have played against more competitive teams — Texas A&M and Memphis — they haven’t been able to keep up with the opposition. If you score 45 points, you should be able to chalk that game up as a “W,” and until UCLA can do that, don’t expect them to contend in contests against the best of the Pac-12.

Why should you consider Stanford College Football Betting Lines? One of the funniest comments I’ve read about the 2017 Stanford Cardinal all season is that they are “Southern Hemisphere-only,” a reference to their 62-7 pasting of Rice down in Australia in Week Zero. Since then, though, they have not shown much competitiveness. They gave up 42 points to USC and then only gained 64 yards of passing offense against San Diego State — and the Aztecs are not ranked highly as a defense. The Cardinal went three-and-out on each of their first three possessions, and while they were able to score enough to take a lead late, they could have piled up early points to make the ending much less suspenseful. Once again, Stanford looks like the favorite in the College Football Betting Lines. Stanford may have held Rice to a touchdown, but they have given up 62 points in their last two games, including 42 against USC but also that last-minute drive that San Diego State mounted to take the win in their game. The Cardinal are allowing 405.7 yards per game of total offense, and that is a number that must go down if Stanford wants to maintain bowl eligibility, let alone contend for that Pac-12 North title.

Expert College Football Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction  Both UCLA and Stanford have talent at quarterback, as Josh Rosen and Keller Chryst have the arm to lead their teams up and down the field at video-game speed. However, both teams have trouble getting stops when they need them on defense. When these two teams face off, I wonder if a Stanford team that could not move the ball against San Diego State can score on UCLA — but then I remember that Memphis hung 48 on the Bruins. Even so, I think UCLA will make adjustments on defense, and their offense is performing better right now. I’ll take the Bruins, 38-27.
