College Football Week 9 Free Picks & Betting Predictions

Some important college football betting opportunities are on the slate when the NCAA regular season enters Week 9. Penn State travels to Ohio State trying to repeat last year’s upset win over the Buckeyes. Georgia heads down to Florida in what could be the deciding matchup in the SEC East, depending on how Georgia and Tennessee turned out a couple of weeks before. Texas Tech visits Oklahoma in a Big 12 matchup that will test the Sooners’ will to move toward a title in the first post-Bob Stoops season. Take a look at our College Football betting predictions for Week 9 of the 2017 season

College Football Week 9 Free Picks & Betting Predictions

Tulsa Golden Hurricane at SMU Mustangs

When: Friday, October 27, 9:00 PM ET Where: Gerald J. Ford Stadium, University Park TV: TBA Radio: 99.5 FM (Tulsa) / 96.7 FM (SMU) College Football Week 4 Odds: TBA Two solid offenses take the field as the Mustangs host the Golden Hurricane. These two teams played on a Friday night last year as well, and the Mustangs pushed Tulsa to overtime before falling. SMU has made a number of additions on the defensive side of the field that should keep them from giving up points in the manner they did down the stretch last year, and quarterback Ben Hicks returns for his sophomore season after a freshman campaign that showed a real learning curve for him. I like the Mustangs to win this one, and I’d give as many as five or six points.

Arkansas Razorbacks at Ole Miss Rebels

When: Saturday, October 28th. Where: Vaught–Hemingway Stadium, Oxford TV: TBA Radio: Razorback Radio Network (Arkansas) / Ole Miss Football Radio Network (Ole Miss) College Football Week 4 Odds: TBA Standout quarterback Chad Kelly? Gone to the NFL. Head coach Hugh Freeze? Fired after the combined weight of probation and some calls to an escort service made him persona non grata to the Rebel faithful. In come the Arkansas Razorbacks, with their high-octane offensive attack. While the Hogs don’t do a whole lot on the defensive side of the ball, they can score at will — and Ole MIss hasn’t done much to shore up either side of the ball going into 2017. Give me the Razorbacks to win.

Penn State Nittany Lions at Ohio State Buckeyes

When: Saturday, October 28th. 3:30pm ET Where: Ohio Stadium, Columbus TV: FOX Radio: Penn State Sports Network (Penn State) / WBNS Columbus 1460 AM (Ohio State) College Football Week 4 Odds: TBA All Urban Meyer did after his Ohio State Buckeyes stumbled against Penn State late in the season (and then get shut out in the national semifinal by Clemson) was run out and get what many think is the finest recruiting class in his entire career. Five blue-chip recruits (three on offense and two on defense) will key the Buckeyes’ attack, and if you don’t think that Meyer has had this date circles since last year, you don’t know how coaches work. I look for J.T. Barrett and the Buckeye offense to work Penn State over as Ohio State exacts revenge in a big win. Are the Gators a safe bet for College Football Week 9?

Georgia Bulldogs at Florida Gators

When: Saturday, October 28th. 3:30pm ET Where: EverBank Field, Jacksonville TV: CBS Radio: Georgia Bulldog Sports Network IMG (Georgia) / Gator IMG Sports Network (Florida) College Football Week 4 Odds: TBA We know that Nick Chubb will be back to key that Georgia running game, and we also know that Kirby Smart will make the Bulldogs smarter on both sides of the ball. They’ll be ready to knock off the Florida Gators, who are bringing in a new quarterback, whether it’s redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks or Notre Dame graduate transfer Malik Zaire. On the defensive side of the ball, the Gators return just a pair of starters from that terrific 2016 unit, and they also have a new coordinator to work in. If Florida stumbled against Tennessee early and has picked up another loss or two, and Georgia looks strong, I’d go with the Bulldogs, even on the road. However, I’d wait to put down a lot of money on this game until we see what these two SEC East rivals do with the early part of their season.

Texas Tech at Oklahoma Sooners

When: Saturday, October 28th Where: OU Memorial Stadium, Norman TV: TBA Radio: 97.3 FM (Texas Tech) / KRXO 107.7 FM (Oklahoma) College Football Week 4 Odds: TBA Baker Mayfield faces his old team for the last time as the Sooners welcome the Red Raiders to town. Will Lincoln Riley have the Sooner defense playing well enough to stop a Red Raider system that can put up points in bunches? Will Texas Tech be able to slow down Mayfield at all? If this game were in Lubbock, I’d be worried about the Sooners’ propensity for an upset. However, playing in Norman, I see the Sooners playing close in the first half and then rolling to a double-digit win.
