LSU at Texas A&M Week 13 Betting Odds & Prediction

Written by on November 22, 2016

After an inconsistent run for pretty much the whole season, both the LSU Tigers (6-4, 4-3 SEC)and the Texas A&M Aggies (8-4, 4-3 SEC) will be looking to close the 2016-16 NCAAF regular season on a winning note when the two teams meet in College Station this Thursday. Both teams are already bowl-eligible, but there will still be a lot on the line in this game, especially for the two coaches, LSU’s Ed Orgeron and A&M’s Kevin Sumlin, who may find themselves jobless at the end of the year if things don’t go well for them this week. In spite of dominating the Florida Gators in virtually every aspect of the game last week, the Tigers couldn’t capitalize on their scoring opportunities, which eventually led to a 16-10 loss. Leonard Fournette’s injury concerns didn’t help LSU’s course either, as the star running back and focal point of the Tiger offense was limited due to injuries. For a different outcome against the Aggies, the Tigers will need to be clinical in offense, and that means QB Danny Etling (who’s thrown for just 6 TDs in eight games as a starter) must step up his game and offer better leadership in the attack while LSU’s stout defense (14.10 PPG allowed this season) takes care of everything else. The fact that LSU is 5-1 SU and ATS in last 6 games vs. A&M, including a 5-0 SU and ATS mark during the Les Miles’ era, should be an additional source of motivation for the Tigers to go for the win this Thursday. Why Bet on Texas A&M? The Aggies were far from fluent against Texas-San Antonio last week, but they still managed to come out with a 23-10 win, putting a stop to their two-game losing streak after suffering back-to-back losses to Mississippi State and Ole Miss. As has been the case since starting QB Trevor Knight suffered a season-ending injury, the Aggies lacked a fine leadership in their offense, with backup QB Jake Hubenak struggling to make good use of his talented receivers. A&M’s run offense has equally not been at its best lately, and with LSU owning a run-stuffing D that ranks 14th in the nation, it doesn’t look like the Texas runners will be having a better outing this week. The onus, therefore, is on Hubenak to get his game going as early as possible. More than that, the crowd at College Station must also play its part, along with a constant support from A&M’s defense in regards to slowing down Fournette and gang. Expert NCAA Football Betting Predictions and Picks While LSU has suffered two losses in its last three games, both defeats have come against top opposition in Alabama and Florida, and both losses have been close. On the flipside, A&M has suffered defeats to two struggling SEC teams in Ole Miss and Mississippi State, with its only wins in recent times coming against low-tier opponents in New Mexico State and UTSA. With that in mind, the Tigers look to be in a better position to win and cover the spread in this game, provided they take it seriously and don’t waste opportunities like they did last week. This should especially be encouraged by the fact that Texas A&M is just 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games and 1-4 ATS in its last 5 home games.
